  1. That is good of them. From reading the Northloop site, even with Lizard picking up the other Nigels other green Golf at the same time, it sounded like it would have come to the thick end of £1k Get it in writing though in case they try to change their minds once an assesor has seen it. I guess you don't know but Flying Ant used to be in the business. He gave Donna lots of good advice about how to deal with insurance companies during our local meets.
  2. I've got a Gizmondo ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gizmondo ) . The firmware has been hacked so it will run 'unsigned' software and the device booted into WinCE. I wrote a small application which simply logs the NMEA data once a second and writes it to a file with a control to turn the logging on and off. Plotting the latitude against longitude as a scatter plot gives a 'Ring shaped graph. Overlay the GPS co-ords for the Bridge and Gantry and tweak the original data set so that no points appear between the start and finish. Job done. 3. All the action pictures I could find from the links posted by GVK, including some already posted by him but using lightbox instead of being resized. Links provided to owners website. Most will supply prints or image files for a small fee. http://www.racepicture.de/ [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176261301_2196_FT168842_27-_touris_002320070408.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176261301_2196_FT168842_27-_touris_002620070408.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176261301_2196_FT168842_27-_touris_018520070408.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1
  4. I grabbed one on Monday. My last lap of the trip, done in style. :-) Cheers Paul. Hope to see you there again soon. Are you still planning on coming over in August for our Billing weekend?
  5. Sorry mate, bit of a flippant comment. The resemblance is purely in the colour and lack of grill / lights.
  6. 7. Done. I'm afraid my £15 has been donated to Ben Lovejoy for providing the information and suggestions without which it would all have got very, very nasty. But I whole heartedly encourage all other members to donate to Pete's cause. Just consider the amount of time and garage bills his forum has saved you. TG
  8. FEW PICCIES thanks to CadGuy and Amanda [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176213836_2253_FT148551_picture_003.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176213836_2253_FT148551_picture_005.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176213836_2253_FT148551_picture_016.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176213863_2253_FT148551_picture_017.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176213863_2253_FT148551_picture_020.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176213863_2253_FT148551_picture_023.jpg][/lightbox] [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1176
  9. My times unless indicated: Sat 1a @8:40: 11:01 Sat 1b @8:55: 10:58 Sat 2 @12:20: 9:38 Balls of Steel Cadguy Sat 3 @6:10: 10:45 Sat 4 @6:25: 10:29 Sat 5 @6:35 incomplete trace ( Andy? ) Sun 1 @8:50: 10:32 Sun 2 @12:00: 11:03+ Jim Potter GPS lost signal just before last bend Sun 3 @7:00: 10:26 Mon 1 @10:20: 52:42! Was parked up for 40mins. Dub-Donna completed the lap at up to 50mph to pop her 'Ring cherry ;-) Not the fastest of laps, but consistant which is the true sign of a good driver!
  10. They where there even before we left Nurburg. Mark had the header tank and pressure cap off as soon as we had gained access to the breakers, sorry garage, to collect Pete's bags etc. Vultures eye view of the crash location: http://www.flashearth.com/?lat=50.374005&lon=6.992762&z=18.6&r=0&src=ggl
  11. Defo!!! Nigel was running down past the corner before we even managed to get out the VR. Dont let what happened spoil the weekend' date=' im looking forward to building up a new VR6 now Pete [/quote'] Shucks guys. All credit, as ever for anything 'Ring related, should go to Ben Lovejoy. I made and carried the flag to make me feel like a hardcore 'Ringer. I'd rather hoped that I'd would never need to use it.
  12. Looks like Jake did the styling ;-)
  13. Preliminary GPS log analysis shows he'd have been doing ~80mph as he started the 'manoeuvre', maybe more as the GPS estimated speed was having problems keeping up. I'll see if I can get a more accurate figure from doing my own trig. on the coordinates.
  14. No, just a random example goth from Wikipedia
  15. Your thinking of grunge. Goths are always meticulously turned out' date=' especially weekend goths in their over the top PVC garb. [img']../../e107_files/public/1175784260_2196_FT162483_viona_ielegems.jpg
  16. I would be working, but there just isn't enough space left on my desktop! [lightbox=../../e107_files/public/1175780890_2196_FT148551_desktop.jpg][/lightbox] If you think that's sad, I can barely contain myself from going around the office making Vrroom, Brrrum and Screeech noises!
  17. On first glace I thought that was a long scartch on my door. But it's actually a reflection! Not used to seeing them on the car ;-)
  18. VW do do smoked OEM versions, for a price. GPC ( see the yellow pages ) do the same ones for less but it still adds up by the time you've got both sides. Rounghly a tenner for each indicator and reflector and £17 a side for fogs, plus VAT + delivery. Or try GSF as I'm sure FK must do aftermarket all in one sets.
  19. No day off for me' date=' so I am at work and I even believe I do have work orientated stuff to do ;-) But nothing as important as getting excited about the weekend. [i']"He's making a list, he's checking it twice..."
  20. Cheers Paul, You're a star. Sorry you can't make it. The weather for Sunday is looking great. I'll mostly be track side, I think, so I'll see what shots I get of the laps. TG
  21. So yes: MOT, Insurance certificate and Car Registration V5C. UK cutoms can ask to see the V5C if they suspect you of smuggling. (h) If you've got a photo license you need to take both parts.
  22. The main viewing points as TomTom POIs are available here: http://www.northloop.co.uk/images/viewing/Nurburgringviewingpoints.zip
  23. Correct, remember it's 4:30 sharp! It's best to print the booking confirmation from Speed Ferries, or at least have the booking reference number. Otherwise you hold every body up at the terminal :@ And i would also take a print out of the hotel reservation.
  24. There are simply hi-capacity NiMH AAA batteries inside. However if you take them out you'll lose the channel settings. I can recharge them on the ferry for the slog across Europe.
