    why do you want to de activate it? it can be unplugged safely as long as the ignition isnt turned on,if you do turn the ignition on while any of the airbags are unplugged you will need to get it reset with vag-com as your airbag light will stay on all the time.

    hi matt, have a look at the post i put up the other day its 17 questions below your one headed "using a bit more oil then normal"its got a few members opinions on the vr6 engine using oil.as for the oil warning light i dont know of anyone thats had it come on even when the oils been realy low?i think the warnings work on pressure rather then the level amount,i doubt any damage would of accoured, hope this helps jason

    some things not right? (again) not long ago i had new front and rear standard vw shocks fitted but ive noticed ive got different ride heights on the front,drivers side front is sitting lower to the passenger side front,ive measured from the centers of the wheels to the top of the arch and ive got about a cm difference? does this meen that one of the springs is just sagging a bit more then the other? cheers jason

    i knew somone would pick up on that,that wheel rear wheel bearing was a crappy gsf part,(now replaced with geniune vw part),it broke up and weilded itself to the stub axle! the stub axle had to be removed and was damaged in the procees of get the wheel bearing of along with the rear disc,everything on the passenger side rear just weilded itself together.

    mines only done 78.000 yet i seem to get loads of problems but other people with these cars on twice that milage seem to have trouble free motoring all day long!why? mines the same as yours jay,no smoke on start up or normal driving,only after its been driven hard i stop at traffic lights pull of and i get that puff of smoke,i only notice it at night when its shoving up in the car behind headlights.cant see it in the day.are you using much oil?im topping up every 5-6 weeks. jason

    cheers for taking the time to explain that to me mate,my car has got the breather on it,replaced that just before xmas as the old one cracked open,where would i get that oil from mate?are you using it?im not that great on understanding the engine inturnals,so what your saying is the pistons will want replacing ?whats a leakdown test and how do bores get scratched?sorry to be so dumb!

    thanks for all your help lads,ill get the valve stem seals done and prob tappets aswell.68,000 was early to get the chains done but id only just bought the car and i hadnt found this forum so i didnt now to much about the vr6 engine,it was making a slight rattle just above idle and thought id better get it sorted

    is the foam just stuck on with tape and is the foot rest removable?what does it fix to?would these have part numbers or will i just get that aint got a clue what your after look at the parts counter at main stealers?

    im using 10w-40 quantum synta silver from gsf and have been since ive owned the car(nearly 2 years) as thats whats most of us are using aint it? i think you could be right with the valve stem seals as it is a bit ticky on start up when but only when the weathers cold or the first start up in the morning.

    ive noticed a couple of bits fitted to other vr6`s that mine aint got first is a black plastic foot rest sitting next to the clutch,maybe joined to the centre consol the other is when you open the boot on the inside of the boot lid below the rear screen 2 pieces of what looks like foam so when the boots closed it must cusion the rear parcel shelf or stop it from rattling?

    as heading states,when i accelarate im getting a bit of smoke out the back and im topping up more then the normal amount? the cars only done 78,000 and ive looked after the car like its a baby! is this piston rings or pistons?or?

    i bought a second hand one of ebay for my mk3 vr6 that was advertised for a cabrio mk3 and it fitted mine so id say yes they will fit

    i put 60mm lowering springs on standard shocks and the ride was crap!changed it back to standard 3 weeks later,as craggsy said coilovers seem the best option.
