Bought the car a few weeks ago for a sweet price- and it had most of the mods already sorted so i wont have to pay out much on that front apart from styling... Does need other things sorting though which i will get sorted over time (hopefully by Summer!)
Pretty standard looking, so far the spec is;
K&N filter, superchip, power boost valve, eibach 60/40 lowered shocks/ spring kit, magnex full exhaust, 17" BBS wheels and drilled/ grooved discs all round with fast road pads.
on my list is a nice spray up for the front arches (due to rubbing) and front bumper- lovely stone chips ~ , M3 rear clusters (anyone got any they would like to sell??? ) mk4 front headlamps and maybe if i have a lot of spare cash a shrick manifold but at the moment i can only dream of such extravagance would love a charger too (wouldnt we all!) i would love to show up some STI's and japanese fodder.....

yeah, keep em those wheels are sweet! Made by BBS i think.

Cheers Mick for the informative reply - very helpful m8. According to your manual are their flexi pipes utilised by the air con? I will let you know the result of this one..... TBC
-
Also how much should i expect to pay to get it recharged?
-
will look smart - will look well mean with a black VR6
-
Thanks for the info Mick- im getting it checked out next week - hoping its just a pipe that knackered. Do you know what is located in that part of the engine bay? (behind the front bumper on the drivers side - almost directly behind the front indicator)
-
very nice m8- like the look. looks real mint- and i love those wheels!!!!!
-
hehe love that - great stuff lol Loved the civic engine note.....
-
By the way its a shame about your VR- i really like it very clean indeed!!!! What happened?
-
Im away until tomorrow so will post a picture at the latest monday. They look like 2 and a half inch twin straights....
-
Just took my dub for a spin and when i got back ive got yellow fluid leaking from underneath the bumper on the airbox side of the engine bay. It hissing a lot. Im thinking its the air con, anyone else here had a similar problem? Im hoping its a split pipe.......
-
thanks for the offer Stu but im not really into the 'OEM' look
-
hmmm sounds good binliner. Mines twin round tailpipes i think they a re 2 1/2" to 3 im not sure but i will check this afternoon. I know it sounds a bit chav like to want a loud exhaust but ive had a magnex before and fancy a different sound. What tailpipes are on yours?? Has something happened to your VR? i caught something on another thread- your car looks stonking!

This is the first time ive ever bought a car that has had engine mod (if minor). Ive got a superchip, a power boost valve, K&N filter replacement and full ss magnex exhaust. Has anyone here got a similar setup, and had it rolling roaded? Its a strange feeling with this VR compared to my last one, as it doesnt seem as torquey low down, but seems to really fly above 4000 RPM. Has anyone else got a power boost valve? If so did you feel a difference? Anyone got a louder ss exhaust system they would like to swap for a Magnex system ? I know the only way ill tell for sure is to take it to the rolling road session thats planned (im provisionally on the list hopefully), but id like to have an idea of what to expect.....

Really nice rims m8- Got any plans to slam it? - go for the euro look- badass!! :-)
-
Im pretty sure that OBD1 runs with a standard distributor cap, whereas on the later models (Possibly 95 on???- OBD 2) they use an ignition pack. If you are looking at the engine on the right hand side is the pack- all the the leads run into it- its a small rectangle job (very expensive to replace too) I think there is another thread in the forum about this
-
I did say that i got my leads from G&S, but in fact they were from Euro Car Parts- they are made by Hansa and are black. £52 + VAT - worked with no problems. Ive spent quite a lot recently so couldnt afford the nice red VW ones. Buying leads from Euro Car Parts is the automotive equivalent of buying from Lidls :-)

Thanks for putting my mind at rest- cheers m8...

Ive got 64k ('97 P reg) had no history when i bought it but i traced it back through Volkswagen Helpline- 3 owners Had a service every 10k with a recorded mileage of 34000 as of June 2000 with the first owner. Knew the last 2 owners the first let his wife use it as a local runaround (mad!) and his nephew bought it and couldnt afford to run it so its been left standing pretty much for 8 months.

Anyone know if this is normal??? If i turn the ignition on (even from cold) it sounds as if the coolant is being pushd around the engine bay rapidly... The car does not overheat and takes a very normal time to warm up so theres nothing wrong as such. I cant remember it being this loud on my old VR..... Any ideas?

Hi, i would love to come as i want to see what my VR6 is actually putting out, but i dont know if ive got anything on that Sunday. Could you put me down for TBC please, ill let you know shortly. Cheers

The coil pack is a common problem. I know of thress VR6's that have had these changed- they aint cheap neither!!
-
Ive just bought some replacement leads for my (newly acquired) VR6 - I bought them from G&S, these were made by Hansa- seem fine so far (Famous last words ;-)) I bought these as when i went to change the plugs, the shite that was on there decided to fall apart in my hands as i was taking them off- really poor quality whatever they were- all i can tell you is they were black!! To be fair if you can afford the red leads are top notch quality, just a shame i couldnt source them elsewhere cheaper...
