Relief valve or somehting missing
alanf replied to Justicevr6's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
OH! right! makes all the difference now we know what we are meant to be looking at I think the part you are pointing to is the pressuire regulator for the secondary air pump ?! sometimes it has a small plastic filter on it and other times it doesnt :? depends on who knocked it off and wether they bothered to replace it! it will still work either way, so dont loose sleep over it -

Which bit of the blackness are we looking at ?! anychance of a slighter brighter picture ?! -
YEP go for it the sleepless night worrying about fault codes you pull up will be well worth it! !lol at time to much info is a bad thing! what things do you want to do with it? fit cruise control, change the clocks out for a set with the trip comp on them? shut down the ERG valve?..............
-
Cruise control is a vacuum operated system, most common cause of non functioning cruise is due the pipe perishing at the pump end, remove the passenger side indicator, now look into the inner wing cavity and there's the pump check the hoses? cut back and replace a required, also check the operation of the brake and clutch pedal light switches ?! these can also cause a few problems!
-
And what did they say about the tinted windows ?!

Internal fan makes radiator fan come come on
alanf replied to Justicevr6's topic in I.C.E, Security an Electrical
ANY IDEA'S? .........................YEP! you could try turning off the AC! it needs the fans to run in order to draw air across the condensor to cool it, the reason the fans do not cut in with the ignition on is that the AC compressor is not running as it takes power from the aux drive belt when the engine is running, and possibly why the fans cut in when you start the engine ?! -
try and see if the recirc switch works on the heater panel? listen and see if the flap moves or the air flow speeds up? IIRC on some VW's the flap is operated by a vacuum servo? it could be the supply for that as suggested ?!
-
try here, tyre size calculator scroll down the page a bit and fill in the details and it does it all for you http://www.carbibles.com/tyre_bible.html

Reminds of a post on another forum I visit, guy was moaning about a clicking/knocking noise under the dash or the front end that occured when he straightened out after a bend! varius suggestions were put forward for the cause! from UJ 's, anti roll bar bushes, top mounts etc, turned out in the end that his mrs had plugged in her phone charger and thrown the cigar lighter into the glove box :? the cause of the noise !lol

You'd be suprised at Fords prices and the best bit is they are pucka VW parts stuck in a Ford box VW wanted
-
then get down the Ford dealers and buy your parts from them only thing the haynes doesnt cover is the engine apparently they never sold enough VR6 versions to justify it being in the book :? for the engine get a TIS or a Russek pocket manual , or just pester people on here !lol

You would need, new calipers, caliper mounts, the disc's and pads and possibly new flexy lines? if you want better brakes go for a set of 4 pots and big disc's! IIRC
-
As far as I'm aware there are two sizes of disc's on the Sharan/Galaxy/Alhambra! pre 2000, 268mm post 2000, 288mm the increase in size was due to the higher BHP of the 24V VR6 engine being fitted and the odd higher output TDI lump the size increase also allowed the fitment of larger rims 16/17'' as standard
-
You will need a 7mm allen key to remove the calipers, clamp the flexy hoses and as you say release the bleed nipple to allow the piston to be retracted DONT back flush the fluid through the ABS valve block! it could be costly! you will most likely need to top up the brake fluid afterwards and bleed the brakes to be sure! the fluid ressy is tucked up on the fire wall, drivers side behind the intake hose to the throttle body &| not easy to get at! remove the scuttle tray, 3 bolts and slide it out, unclip the air filter houseing, unplug the MAF and lift the hose to one side, may be a couple

it belongs to a west side member, Sharanfx as he's known on another forum so far the list of mods are 18" Borbet A wheels Flared the front arches to acomodate the wheels Debadged the rear and removed the rear wiper. Removed the side repeaters and fitted late mirrors Cleaned and polished the engine bay lowerered the front 20mm and presently working on getting the LPG system to work! not seen it personally as I forgot all about E38 show &| but have seen photo's of it on another forum and it does look good!
-
Whats wrong with the Haynes book? apart from a the badges and a couple of bits of trim it's all the same vehicle under the skin! and Ford parts are cheaper than VW's !amazed go on, try it you know you want to

There isnt one! the box is supposedly sealed for life ! !mistrust but funnily enough there is a filler cap and a level/drain plug fitted to the box :? so it is possible to check the level! if you need the details of how to let me know? from your avitar you have a Mk1, get yourself down to halfords and buy a haynes manual, then get on ebay and pick up a copy of the TIS, Fords official workshop guide on cd, look under Ford Galaxy it covers the VR6 (CD6) and shows you how to strip and rebuilt your Sharan
