  1. jezmoz, talk to 'Icy' on Club GTI/various forums - I'm sure he's done this. Effectively you paint the various surfaces inside the light, other than the actual reflector black. Also, might be worth a look on VWVortex, as the yanks are very much into the 'Euro look'.
  2. I saw some recently....on mk3anni's car: Keep an eye on ebay or at shows next year, probably the only places to get them now!
  3. If you are going for RS4 looks, the smallest will be around 7.5x17. Those with 205/40/17's shouldn't cause you any major issues, even running quite low - say 30-40mm lower. If you go proper low, you'll likely need to at least roll the arches.
  4. Fuel economy? In a VR6? !dodge !amazed
  5. I just don't understand - I got some bird poo on my car, so I used an angle grinder to get it off, and now my paintwork is damaged? What did I do wrong?

    Your 1st car?

This was my first car! Mk2 Escort 1.1 with an enormous 41bhp!! This was back in 1995 when you could still find a one owner from new mk2 Escort, with a two door shell, for only a few hundred quid! Did the traditional mk2 mods - Revolution 4 spokes, Peco exhaust, tiny steering wheel etc. Oh how I wish I'd never sold it, would be worth loads now too!! Strangely, like matey above, I paid about
  7. Remove ashtray and slide the little panel to the left out (above cigarette lighter)
  8. Standard 15's are 6.5 wide IIRC. I think a 205 is a bit wide for a 6" rim - 195 should be ok. Rim width is up to you really, but a 7 or 7.5 is easiest for avoiding scrubbage. ET around the 38 mark with the above width keeps things tidy. The offset and width would not change with a larger diameter, though of course you would need to reduce the profile of the tyre - ie with 205's you'd want a 205/45 on 16's and a 205/40 on 17's.
  9. I don't think that's really feasible! Anything which helps eliminate body roll etc is going to reduce the ride quality!
  10. I'd doubt they'd last much longer than standard - most standard shocks and springs will last 100,000 miles easy, whereas the Koni shocks on mine are about 60,000 miles old and utterly knackered - but they have a much harder life due to the reduced travel on a lowered car etc. Depends what you mean by 'better' really. The Highsports are not damping adjustable, only height adjustable, so the damping gets stiffer as you lower the car, whereas the Konigsports are fully adjustable, so you can adjust the damping to your preference.
  11. A VR just isn't a car for regular short journeys - I'd sell it and buy a diesel tbh!
  12. That's rather nice! What are the rims? Are they the same as VR6Pete's?
  13. I've just ordered a set of Konigsports to replace my ageing Koni shocks/Eibach spring set up. I have driven VR's with both Highsports and Konigsports, and found the Highsports to be a bit bouncy, where the Konigsports give much better body control, presumably due to the better quality Koni damping. For an additional
  14. Just remove the ECU- it's going nowhere then!
  15. Fuel- compared to a Fiesta, pretty awful, but compared to any other big V6, not bad! Handling- the Corrado was raved about when it was new as one of the best FWD handling cars ever. Parts- Mechanical parts aren't too bad, but trim and body panels etc tend to be rather expensive or simply unavailable for the Corrado. Reliability- Never owned a Corrado, but I've found Golf's to be pretty reliable.
  16. I wouldn't worry about it. Just ignore the 'previous owner' and get on with selling it. Personally, I think people worry too much about recorded mileages anyway - as I'm sure lots of them are wrong. Unless I can be absolutely sure the mileage is correct, I ignore it and look at a car on it's condition.
  17. Yes, it will be, so you need an obd2 elbow on the schrick.
  18. The difference is the 'elbow' part which mounts to the TB. Otherwise they are identical. You can buy the elbow from Schrick, but it is pretty expensive, or if you are lucky, you might find somebody to buy one from secondhand.
  19. The manual won't tell you much as the alarm isn't standard. The knackered battery answer sounds likely though.
  20. A non-schrick VR just feels gutless when you are used to a Schrick doesn't it!
  21. They're good aren't they! Find a good one and sort out the handling and a bit more grunt and they are even better!
