I came from an Evo 6 to the VR to save some money. I wouldn't personally buy another one! Before the Evo i had an M3 Evo, now THAT was a lovely car for any sort of driving........ but with the sort of Service bills i saw i'd take that off the list too. I suppose a car like the 350z would be good, they're definitely powerful, comfortable, awesome looking and cheap to maintain being a Nissan. Only thing is depending on driving - the fuel consumption isn't brilliant but if you do motorway driving etc it's not bad. Make a shortlist and then weigh up the Pros / Cons for each car

air induction kits.. pro's / cons ?
nickg123 replied to stevietots1's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I'm in the middle of getting a Heat Shield Designed / Made for my Green Induction. Hopefully once sorted i'll be able to sell the two together for under £100 which should make a good system then and not too expensive! -
Sat in traffic last night, i had my window down slightly, and around 1k revs, there's quite a noticable "rattle" sort of sound from the engine. I know it's Chain driven, my car's a 1997 P Reg, is it likely to be the Chain Tensioners or something? Mileage is 83k, it's not that loud but doesn't sound particularly nice that's all?

Lovely looking car, i'm sure it's comfortable and probably quick enough to have no problems with everyday cars, but for that money i'd want a lot more car. I'd go for an Evo VI Tommi Mak if you can afford the running costs, they've dropped like a stone in value due to the influx of rep mobile Evo 8's being sold, the VI TME is the only Evo that i personally think will hold it's money well over the next few years. Depends what you want from a car though really? 350z is a nice car too BTW.

This can't be right? Is it just me, or does this simply seem like an adjustable spring and collar? Not a complete suspension kit? http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=40192&item=7948154869&rd=1

I used to go with my mate Dave in his Blue Mk2 D Plate G60, but that was at Guildford, never had any issues with Non-VAG cars down there??? Where is it now then, Fleet Services??? Are they ok with that?

We've had this on e-mail a few years ago but it's still impossible to do lol!! binliner - it's easy really, just lift your right foot off the ground and move your foot round in a clockwise direction, then with your right hand draw the Number 6 in the air, then without realising your foot will have started to go the other way.

Yeah i can imagine a 10" would be better, but i just used a 12 as it's what i had lol! I think the Golf has good potential though, it's such a solid car so should take a lot of sounds before it falls apart etc.

Sony headunits have never been known that well for their sound quality, i got quite into ICE a couple of years back, everyone i met said that Sony Car Audio was not that impressive..... maybe that's not the case now but this was what i was told. Bit like 6 x 9's, everyone had them but people in the know hate everything they stand for, a speaker should never be Oval, plus they take too much sound to the rear of the car..... In most cars i've just had a set of 6" Comp's up front running off an amp, then some small speakers for rear fill with a single 12" sub, this was always the best setup for
-
Ahh yeah i can imagine it'll need a bit of sound proofing.... can't need any more then the Renaults i used to do though
-
Sorry, yes it's a 3 door. Are both sets in the Front Doors and Rear Panels 6.5" then? Are the Standard Tweeters ok? I might just buy Full Range 6.5's to replace the 4 that are in there anyway, and just make the standard tweeters redundant???

Thanks for that mate, if i have any problems i'll make sure and give them a call, they're "fairly" local to me too

Intermittant Mis-Fire (After new leads)
nickg123 replied to nickg123's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
It's not hesitating, when it does it, it's definitely mis-firing as the car will do it when idling, feels like it could stall?? I suppose hesitation is also true though.... as when driving it like this it does hesitate, but sort of feels like a misfire. How can i tell the difference? Surely if it does it when idling that's a mis-fire? -
Sod that lol! 9am start for me........ fall out of bed at 8:15 am, jump in the shower to wake up and get dressed, 10 mins drive to work, that's me done! Must admit i'd rather start earlier like 8am, but i couldn't be at work by 5am - not when it's still dark lol!

Steve - can you also tell me how much it costs for the Arch Rolling? PM If you prefer?

Hi guys! My Golf has an aftermarket Sony head unit, and some 6 x 9's - this is as i bought it......... so don't blame me for the Sony HU or 6 x 9's hehe Can anyone tell me what speakers are in the car, as standard and how many of each there are? There seems to be speakers everywhere i look so it would be nice to know what they are size wise as i'm thinking of replacing them all. They sound pretty good but as the Golf is such a solid car i reckon it would sound top with some good equipment in there!

Sorry, mine is Anythingcars. Will add you all when i can

It'll be no more thirsty then the Clio speaking from Experience...... I had two Clio 16v's over the last 3/4 years. 1 - Standard with Filter & Exhaust 2 - Chip, Cams, Ported & Polished Head, Exhaust, Filter etc. Neither were any more economical then the VR6! Plus with the VR, you have the onboard computer so i think some people (myself included) drive a little bit more careful as it's gutting seeing the MPG infront of you! I always wished they'd put an MPG Computer on the Evo just for Comical Value
-
I've got that too, didn't realise there was a live option there too! Will give it a try :-) I've got the Golf too
-
Do any of you have access to it? I only recently started mine up, playing Project Gotham 2 but it's awesome fun! Had some good races last night with mates in the Lancer Register. If anyone has PGR2 and Xbox Live, put your Username/Tag down and i'll add you later so we can all have a race some time!

Don't pay over £4k for a Car with more then 85k Miles, try and stick to a Standard one if you can, but subtle mods are ok...... As others said, condition and the way it's looked after are the first things you want to check out - it won't handle like your clio did, it's very different to drive but goes great in a straight line
-
Dan - i'm saving for a house now DaveR bought it off me......... but stuck it in a Ditch on Sunday, pretty bad from what he's said! I'm often up in Purley, my Girlfriend's family all live there so i'll keep a look out for you both! She went to school in Wallington!
-
Sorry mate, no go here! I might know of one.......... so if i find out i'll let you know anyway.
-
I paid £3700, 1997 Black 3 Door, 81k Miles (Standard) 3 owners. Seemed like a good deal but i'm sure there's loads out there at that money, this was very clean and tidy though..... little things suggest a car has been well looked after to me - things like 4 Tyres of the same Brand/Tread, just the things like that sold it to me!

What's wrong with you guys??? How can none of you have mentioned the Enzo?? It's definitely top of my list anyway
