Did adjusting the Fse make your car run better?? Still might have a problem with the extra air been pushed through -
Best way to reduce weight on a vr
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
def gonna supercharge it too, so i think i might get a piggyback chip as recommended then i can keep on getting my ecu remapped rather than having to get a chip fitted everytime -

Hi, I will (hopefully) have my car finished by this Sat, i chipped it once when i had just a stainless exhaust, now i have had other mods , 3.0 conversion etc i have been told i need it chipping again, i am $&@% off , this is because i will probably have too lean a fuel mixture so i have been told. Is there any way around it , ie a rolling road tune or one of those add on fuel pressure regulator jobbys?? ~

Which petrol do you use in the vr!
gazbrook replied to alivr6's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I use optimax for two reasons , optimax is 98 ron and ultima is only 97 ron same as esso super and also its cheaper where i live to have the more potent 98 ron optimax. I genuinely do think optimax is better and have tried both, some serious strip racers use better fuel that is 106 or 108 ron so theoretically optimax is better as the rating is better, i'm sure i will be told if this is incorrect -

i will seriously consider a carbon fibre bonnet and seats, thats a good excuse to leave our lass at home too, i can say its because she weighs the car down, not quite sure how she'll take it %-6 -
Best way to reduce weight on a vr
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I know vr6 go like a bullet in a mk1 shell, i was thinking more on the lines of reducing weight with the existing shell, i need to lose a few pounds myself maybe that would help!! I don't have air con as its on an L plate -
Hi guys n girls, I was wondering if you could give me your input on the best way to reduce the weight of my vr without completely stripping out the interior like a rally car , as i think this would be a good way to improve my acceleration at a minimum cost, cheers

Best affordable Mod for more torque???
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
i've already got my car chipped, looks like its a schrick then , the rent can wait -
16" ones are going for £300 with tyres, 17" might make them worth 350 with tyres

[moved] Vr6 v 150bhp GTTDI (230lbft of torque!!!!!!)
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
In the golfs defence the vr6 is knocking on a bit, the bmw 330d is quite a new car hence newer technology , also about 10- £15,000 more expensive and if i ever do manage to soup my car up to 330lb/ft of torque i know it would destroy 7 seconds that the 330d does, still good for a diesel tho -
how much did the schricks go for last time?? How much are they normally??

2.9 corrado throttle body and manifold for 2.8 golf
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
yeah mine is an obd1 3 litre conversion, not that i have driven it yet!!! (bloody garage) any idea how much they are worth throttle body and manifold together?? -
I didn't have my car rolling roaded standard but after chipping it was 188bhp , i thought golf vr6's were 174bhp standard?? either way that what a superchip did for my car
-
i would be interested if there was a group buy for induction kits or bucket seats the argument would then be which one though

Surprised a couple of motorbikes on the way home
gazbrook replied to mina's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
vr6 man , do you know minas vr6 is a supercharged beast kicking out 317 bhp!! not the standard 174 bhp, thats why!! -
Yes its me again, in relation to the last vr6 vs gttdi thread, what is the most cost effective mod to improve the torque on my vr??? I know a lot of you have bought schricks, i'm sure this is a good mod, are there any others??

[moved] Vr6 v 150bhp GTTDI (230lbft of torque!!!!!!)
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
I think i'm going to cry, i didn't realise diesels had that much torque, yes they do sound crap but they are getting quieter and quieter all the time so don't sound as rough at least, but still it doesn't compare to the throaty sound or a vr .Plus a vr doesn't redline at 5000 rpm like a diesel so time is wasted on a standing start with gear changes for a diesel, i'm still not happy with fast diesels tho!! -
[moved] Vr6 v 150bhp GTTDI (230lbft of torque!!!!!!)
gazbrook replied to gazbrook's topic in Engine Maintenance and Problems
i have raced one when my car was only chipped at 188 bhp and from about 20 mph upto about 80 i was only a couple of car lengths ahead, i was v impressed but i think this car for sale must be standard because if he had modified his car the bhp should have gone up a bit aswell. Sound like he might be exaggerating to sell the car, all due respect to them though , 150bhp for a diesel is the same power as astra gsi, and ford rs turbo. Still a diesel though!! -
Hi guys i have seen a car for sale that really confuses me, a golf gttdi (diesel in other words) I know they are 150bhp which is rapid for a diesel BUT!!! It is also advertised as over 230lbft of torque , will someone please tell me this is absolute crap, i hope it is. No wonder the guy who's selling has had no offers !!! On the add it says beats vr6's 4motions and r32's . What a clown, its on ebay if you want to take a look :?
