  1. Personally i'd run OE bushes so at least something in the chassis soft lol. Don't know if anti-roll bars would be worth it, my last encounter with a car running coilovers taught me that there's no body roll what so ever so i don't think it'd need any anti-roll bars. The strut brace wouldn't do a great deal, but it'd look good though lol.
  2. Mine's lowered 40mm all round & even with this slight lowering i have problems with speedbumps. How do you lot cope with it lower!?! lol. Fit anti-roll bars & you'll get no body roll without going so low you can't drive it properly. Looks good slammed though!
  3. I wanted the throttle body doing too, but it seems the later engine has an electronic throttle body so it can't be upgraded (mines a '96). So just check which engine's in yours before you book it in, it saves a lot of dissapointment. lol
  4. I'vr got koni struts & springs. They are quite firm, only harsh on really bad surfaces when it causes my cd's to jump so i just turn it off & listen to the engine. Had avo coiloves on my last car (honda civic, please don't laugh) & found them terrible so will never go the coilover route again. Heard great things about the H&R stuff, but didn't have much choice when getting the koni's as the standard rear struts had just let go & nearly tipped me over on the motorway so needed the 1st ones that were in stock. Probably no help to you in deciding which to go for though. lol!
  5. As i said, the AMD chip with an exhaust, ram-air kit & sports cat got me 212bhp & 202lb-ft of torque. Thats 37bhp up on standard & 32lb-ft up as well. Transforms the car, the only thing i've noticed is the peak torque has moved up the rev range to about 4000rpm so when overtaking it's sometimes necessary to change down. but apart from this it's brilliant. AMD also rolling road it before & after the mods so you know exactly how much you've gained. Hope this helps.
  6. Mines a '96 & has got 98000 on the clocks, all genuine with full service history. When i got it the only thing wrong were the cat, the brakes & the suspension was knackered. I've done 10000 in the last year with no problems at all engine wise.
  7. I'm thinking of getting mine done with a blue tint like the new mercs. I think it'll look good against the black paintwork of my car. Besides everyones got black tints of some kind or another.
  8. OUCH!!!! it looks like i may get a bargain then. lol
  9. Now i'll have to get my hands dirty again, hope i don't f*%k this up! lol Cheers mate!
  10. Ahhhhhh! sorry mate now i understand lol, thats why she sometimes hunts for revs when i'm sat at traffic lights. How do i fix this?
  11. Hi all! I had my golf re-mapped at AMD in november & all was perfect! ('96 model) but just recently she's started to stall when i fire her up unless i give her a bootful of revs, any ideas why this has just started now? Just moved house & the people next door don't like me revving it to start it. It wakes there kids up! lol! Thanks for any help you can give. ~
  12. That sounds expensive! ouch! 3.1? Did u start with a 2.9 corrado block? Probably about 300-350ish with the blower on. I bet that sounded awesome though?
  13. Just a sugestion, but what about a 3.0 conversion? I know they are more expensive & only produce about 235ish BHP, but you could always supercharge it afterwards. Think of the sound it would make though!
  14. Cheers Patrick! The link did work! i'll keep an eye on it & see if i can get it delivered to me in yorkshire. Thanks alot!
  15. I use fully synthetic & i top it up once a month to keep it at the top of the dip-stick. it uses about half the dip-stick gauge in that time.
  16. Does anybody know if it's possible to change the airbag wheel on my golf for a normal aftermarket wheel cos cos it's starting to get shabby? And will it affect my insurance much? Any help, much apreciated :|
  17. I've read about missfires on the vr6 engine & nothing i've read is good. It seems that they damage quite easily when missfiring, get it looked at sharpish before u've to buy a dustpan & brush to sweep the bits up when it goes BANG!
  18. Good Question mate. I was going to ask if anyone new the process for draining & changing the brake fluid, but you beat me to it. Anyone any ideas?
  19. Whats involved in fitting the rear engine mounts? Is it something i could do on my drive or should i take it to a garage & let them do it?
  20. I put them on in november & they've only done about 3000miles with no serious abuse yet. mine make that gentle moaning sound just before stopping. I'll have to get them stripped & see whats going on. cheers speedo.
  21. I leave them on the softest setting as thats perfect with the anti-roll bars, also only the fronts are t/a so it'd be too much hassle stripping thr rear shocks off to adjust.
  22. How noisy are your brakes speedo? Mine make a really loud grating/grinding noise when i'm slowing down from above 50mph. The discs don't seem to be scored or warped & there's plenty of pad left, this is more of a problem than the feel of the brakes as i don't know whats causing it. Is it normal?
  23. Yes they look great compared to the standard ones. Good idea with the silicon> Why didn't i think of that?!?
