  1. It has got the same power, just less weight!
  2. Right I've hit 200,000Miles now. Lots of cash spent on bit and pieces, still no chains done and rattle is still faint. I have to say the VR is probably gonna be the best car I ever own! An absolute joy to drive and 14years old now, but not a lot gets past me the way I drive it!
  3. Hey, thought I'd bring up this old thread again. Well I was the last to post a couple of years ago. I'm on 176,000miles now. Original chains still, but think am getting done at end of year. Let me know what you are all on?
  4. I'm on 157K. I was on 100K just over a year ago. It's had a hard life in the last 12months.. I've spent money on it to keep it on the road. No chains done yet, tensioner done. Chains are rattling but nothing serious enough to change at the mo.
  5. I'm on 145,000. Was on 100,000 in April 2007!! Chains still not done, although they are rattling!! Should be good for a few more k's.
  6. Wont make a blind bit of difference. Mine has that fault now and again' date=' and it is common. Its just emissions crap, not worth worrying about and certinaly not the cause of a strong fuel smell. [/quote'] Still, i'd rather the fault code wasn't there!
  7. I have a similar problem. The fault code on VAG reads EVAP Cannister Purge Regulator Valve. I have ordered a new valve and will let u know if this cures the problem.
  8. Yeah I think it is mate! But don't know which one yet? The RAC fella who got it started when it first happened plugged his RAC comp on to it and it showed an immoboliser fault. He said it could be the VW system as it wouldn't show faults if the TOAD alarm had any! Think I need a little trip to the auto electrician..
  9. Hi, has anyone ever had this happen??? If I disconnect my battery for 30secs; reconnect it and then try turning the ignition, the car starts fine. However, if I then switch the engine off and try starting it again, it fires up and then dies after 1sec!! I have to disconnect the battery again to start it. Cheers Ed
  10. A very fast car! I suggest he was just toying!!
  11. The compact is quite a bit lighter than Full model, but still heavier than VR. I'd say with your exhaust and induction kit it would be pretty even. Book time for the 325Ti compact is 6.8s. Any mods to the turbo and the VR would obviously struggle!!
  12. Unless you drive a LHD 1.0 Polo!
  13. The 190hp is from the 2.9 Rado block.
  14. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?18122 I think ingham has them as well.
  15. Yeah it's only done 90K and is a P plate. Worth a look though, would that hold the pedal in place as well?
  16. Anyone had any problems with theirs? I was on the M25 yesterday afternoon and depressed the clutch to change down a gear and it made big noise and then went right to the floor, where it stayed. I know they are hydraulic and there is a slave and master cylinder, I just wondered what else could go wrong! I had to get it towed to a garage and they are telling me that it isn't a cylinder because it has stayed depressed to the floor and it cannot be pulled back. Could it be a thrust bearing? Cheers, Ed
  17. http://www.vr6oc.com/e107_plugins/forum/forum_viewtopic.php?43850 Check out this previous link, may give you a few ideas! Ed
  18. So, the garage I use has taken the pump and control unit apart to investigate further. It seems as though the pump is alright, however the control unit isn't behaving!! This is a sealed unit and therefore can only really be replaced. I'm told these units are around £450. Don't really wanna be paying this but I gotta stop! Anyone had similar probs? Ed
  19. Right, I've been back to the garage this morning and they are going to take the thing off and examine wiring etc to check for corrosion!! They're a bugger to get off though and my mechanic was reluctant to do so!! Thing is, if they take it off, check it and think they may have fixed it. When they put it back on and it still doesn't work they've wasted quite a bit of time!! I still may have to buy a new one as well. Definately worth checking though. Ed
  20. Is that so Pete!! They haven't told me fully what the problem is, just that the fault code is there! VAG COM says the pump and rear offside sensor have packed in. They've replaced the sensor to see if that clears the fault, but no luck! I'm leaving it over night so will speak with the guys at the garage tomorrow. Hopefully it's just a wire then!!
