  1. I have to disagree with that... I found that standard shocks and stiffer springs were ok until you hit a dip at any speed and the spring compressed the dampers were too soft to cope and it was like a pogo stick.. not good at all!
  2. dont worry about it... only way to find out is ask the questions
  3. no it doesnt come with a cat... you keep your existing cat (which is the first section of the exhaust after the downpipe at the front of the car and they fit a new system to it (hence the term cat-back) you can replace the cat with a straight through pipe which might give you a few more bhp but it makes it a lot louder and the cat is an mot requirement
  4. thats not a bad price for a full stainless system either
  5. good reason... think you'll have to custom make something... I guess you could always put some kinda lock/bolt on the back of the back seats (ie in the boot) so that even if you released the seats you couldnt pull em forward?
  6. mines normally on about 96 plus or minus about 10 depending on how Im driving! Tommy... John Austin will stamp the service book... I know its not a VW stamp but Its still got full history proving to potential buyers its been looked after just at a fraction of the cost!
  7. yeah its worth getting a proper 4 wheel full camber/alignment check... costs a bit more but well worth it onceits properly set up
  8. have you had the tracking checked... thats the usual cause of it
  9. depends who you're with but if you insure with someone like greenlight or HIC then it probably wont go up at all... if you're with someone like direct line it'll probably cost you about £1 million !
  10. mina... were you in the PVW sleeper group thrash? let me know if you decide to sell it!!

nah debadged... keep em guessing! Couzens... not that it matters but there wouldnt be any marks on the rear if it had been debadged cos its stuck on with tape!

    highline

Ive not heard that before... how do you know it was never badged? mine doesnt say VR6 anywhere... in fact it doesnt even say golf!
  13. Tommy... you should go to John Austin, I just had an oil & filter change for £47
  14. There should be someone at J29 meet on Sunday with both leads but its a bit of a trek for you acf8181

They did all come with a walnut gear knob but it might have been changed on the ones you saw... the leather trimmed walnut steering wheel was a no cost option... although mine is the only one Ive ever seen! I believe the centre console is diffferent also and the red light in the door... but like tommy said the V5 will say highline if its genuine
  16. Agree with that except I think 17s look the best... 18s look too big... Ideally Id go for something 16" nice phat and polished with a deep dish On the subject of suspension the standard stuff is way too soft so Id recommend changing it for something firmer and lower, unless you like the off road look
  17. the filter is only loud at full throttle... if you're cruising on the motorway you wont know its there. My exhaust drones at about 2000 revs but otherwise is ok
  18. the BMC is worth the extra money I think... and it sounds cool... I think mine sounded better when I just had the filter cos the zorst drowns it out a bit

  20. no not worth remapping it ... probably get 5bhp max for £350 +vat! if you put different cams in or something like that then itd be worth it
  21. Couzens - Ive got a BMC CDA filter & Powerflow cat back exhaust Tom - Id removed the carbon canister & connected the 2 pipes, what I shouldve done was block the one that leads to the throttle body and leave the other open... not sure what you mean about the filter?
