ian 182 0
Buy a cheap solder iron mate .The MAF sensor kit costs about £280 i believeian
dellert 0
How far from the plug is it? If you have enough space to strip the cable back and join it, you could use a straight crimp and cover it with heatshrink? Easier to do than soldering and gives a good result. Cheap and permanent and not dodgy bodgy at all! All you would need is a crimp and some crimping pliers, even if you get top notch ratchet crimping pliers will only be about £15, which i would as the other kind are hopeless! I use them at work all the time no problems.
VR6Rob 0
the plug is part of the main loom.i imagin its broken right where it comes out of the plug? making soldering or crimping hard.you may find that other vw's of the same age use the same plug and could be worth a trip to a breakers yard to look.if you find one cut it off a few inches from the plug the crimp\solder it to your loom. Ciaran 4
the wire is actually proken right where it comes out of the plug so soldering is near impossible. all i need is a plug and as rob says a few inches and il cut the wires and rejoin them!!
clarkie 1
this happened to me and every time i accelerated it would bog down and missfire. i soldered mine but coz it was so close 2 the plug it kept breaking and shorting out on the other wire and melted them. so like vr6rob said i would get another plug. stu
