Anyone know how much an OBD2 throttle is?

Recommended Posts

Mine is goosed. Throttle position sensor and idle adaptation limit errors in VAG-COM. Car keeps cutting out and hunting at idle - when it does actually run ^o)

Feckin thing cut out on me mid roundabout manouvre today, not good. :@

As they're sealed units, you can't service them, so it's a chunky bill for a recon or new one.

Anyone ever replaced one? How much?

Cheers

Cheers. I checked BBA Reman and they list a Siemens part, but the one I need is a VDO item.

Couldn't find SPB parts on ebay either, so dealer it had to be at £279+VAT :-(

Turns out the throttle was OK in the end but what caused the rough running was me boring it out! It seems grinding down the ramp has a massive impact on air flow, making the engine run too lean on part throttle. I wasn't expecting such a huge improvement in flow, but a remap is required before I can use it, LOL!

So back to standard throttle. Moral of the story, don't feck about with things that work!! It'll be a £300 mistake I won't forget in a hurry!

I hogged it right out mate. The red line shows roughly where the ramp would normally be. BoredOBD2.jpg

It makes heck of a difference to throttle response, especially low down. But when the engine heats up, the fuelling goes too lean, so I need a proper remap. I'll use it again when I get Vince to do my MAP sensor remap.
