Cars got a noise :0(

Right hard to explain but here we go

Its kinda like a humming noise a bit like what a fuel pump would make but is coming from the dash board area on drivers side.

Cant seem to hear it from the engine bay but you can deffo hear it in the car. Doesnt really get any louder or change when you switch any electrics on or rev the engine.

Any ideas?????

Mates got a similar noise on his gti, we think its the speedo needle as you can see it very slighty vibrating/shaking.

Happens only when the engine is running and stays the same whatever the revs are.

Crikey - it would sound like the fuel pump, but the description of where the sound is coming from doesn't suit... Nothing seems to be malfunctioning - could it be a relay or some other electrical component coming to the end of it's natural life?

my mates vr6 does this as well, u can here it in the car, but not out of the car?? it seems to be coming from drivers side dash?

I'm thinking its a relay to. I cant see it being anything else - Or i hope not anyway!

I have a noise like this. As soon as ignition is on, even before starting the engine, it sounds like a hoover next door. It's quite annoying, but everything seems to work. Haven't checked the relays yet, any other ideas? Hope its not expensinve!! It rea

My car was doing this, noticed mainly on a cold day. I also noticed that it stopped after say 10 minutes driving and nipping into Tesco.

Since the 'warmer' weather of the past two weeks it has been fine!

Saying that, I have topped the oil up, maybe just maybe that noise is related!!
