MOT Failure??

not sure, as a general rule, if it rolled out of the factory with one, you'll need one for the MOT. Just bung the geezer 20 quid

shouldn't, my sis's nova had no wiper and it passed (i took it off cause the motor broke and i couldn't be bothered to find another one)

its prob the same as reverse lights, if it has them they have to work, if it don't have them it'll pass.

Your rear windscreen wiper doesn't have to work, many cars don't have them at all.

My escourt passed with one stuck half way, so they can't failed to have noticed it. Plus the washer didn't work.

officially if its there its got to work but it is ok to remove it totally.

kilokilla is right, with the wiper removed and the hole filled in, there's no way of them knowing there was ever a wiper there. Some base model mk3 Golfs came from the factory without a rear wiper.
