VRmonster 1
to be honest, the mk 3 susspension is that poo, i wouldnt bother with just a spring kit. altho cheap, id suggest you save another £100 and go for a spring/damper kit. but other than that i went straight onto coilovers, so i havent got anymore advice. soory. Guest Olly_K
i think simon (six appeal) had uprated springs/dampers, and he loved it, although now he has FK coilovers and he's loving them even more !save your money, go coils

six appeal 53
I have tried numerous set-ups on my VR6, inc. just springs ( which I DO NOT recommend even when teamed with my almost brand new VAG shocks) I found the SPAX shocks and springs set up far too harsh. The Koni adjustable SSk kit too be a good budget handling package, but again too hard, for every day use. Having just bought FK Konigsport coilovers, I can not praise them enough! Ride is outstanding, no bangs or bumps, and I'm actually running the car at least an inch lower than before! Plus you have the added bonus of them being infinately adjustable depending on your mood, and what your doing! My advice is not to buy loads of different kits till your happy, save your money and buy once, buy coilovers! acf8181 0
why do you strongly NOT recomend just springs six appeal?yes, they're obviously no where near as good as having a kit, but they're a million times better than o.e. springs (which are frankly dangerous).
six appeal 53
Yeh agree about the original springs being over dangerous, just that I found the 2 sets of springs I tried with my 13,000 mile VW shocks to show the shocks to be seriously under damped.
beng 0
what coilovers do you recommend and sort of money are we talking about??
VRmonster 1
well i cant recommend anything, other than listen to six appeal about the fk's. oh, and do not buy spax rsx unless your planning on living in monaco. cos u can feel every bit of gristle on the road, lol. mine bounce rather than dampen.
