Seademon 0
I know that theres some kind of transparent thick vinyl that can be applied to the fronts of cars - a mate of mine has that on his Porsche & another on a Ferrari so there must be a company out there thats selling kits or rolls of it - their cars already had it applied. It protects across the bonnet mainly but is also on the bumper of the Porsche
Earwig 89
These things are very popular on Yanky cars so it may be an idea to try and source one from there.Where to look is another matter though. This is something I would really like to get hold of to as my car hits the bodyshop next wednesday for some work and I would like to keep it nice for as long as possible. However the problem I have is an RS4 front bumper which will no doubt make my search even harder than those with a standard bumper..... :-(
petervr6 0
ye ive seen them to its clear so you cant even tell it on.
mattverth 0
Most blokes on here would offer to cover your front, be careful.
antera309 3
I've got exactly the same problem, Claire. I can't be doing with having my bumper resprayed every 6 months, so I might try this:http://www.xpeleu.com/You can protect your headlights with it too.
Earwig 89
^^Might be worth looking into that.Prices starting from £30 for what? I wing mirror? :-)My Bumper is being sprayed again next week......... :-(

antera309 3
claire that would mean you using Lee as a strap on!!Did anyone else read that the way I read it?!??? LOLBack to the problem at hand, an alternative is to get the bodyshop to put LOTS of coats of lacquer on the front bumper, grille & bonnet. I spoke to several people at Ultimate Dubs about this problem and this is what most of them recommended.Sure, respray work ain't cheap, but that professionally fitted plastic coating looks like it would be quite expensive too... Earwig 89
Surely using lots and lots of Laquer would just cause the Laquer to chip instead? It would not look as bad as as actual paint being chipped but still possibly noticable. I think that Vinyl wrap may also have this probem. If a stone hits something it is going to cause some damage/chipping/scratching.The Ideal solution is a full front cover but I still cannot find one anywhere without having one custom made......Perhaps still cheaper than reprays all the time... vdubgirl 3
My car has so much paint and laquer on it I'm surprised the wheels actually turn round with the weight of the paint and stuff!!!!I think bubble wrap is the way forward lol
antera309 3
Surely using lots and lots of Laquer would just cause the Laquer to chip instead?Yes, but lacquer on its own is a LOT easier to touch up.
dubloke 4
and cheaper than claires special mix paint!
binliner 0
I got a quote for that clear paint shield stuff and its about £500!you should be able to find a bumper & bonnet bra on ebay... I think the company that does them is called goingfast.de
antera309 3
£500 yikes!! For that I could get a second bumper, get it sprayed, and keep it just for shows....
Earwig 89
£500 yikes!! For that I could get a second bumper' date=' get it sprayed, and keep it just for shows....[/quote']Yep very true......More suited to cars that have integrated bumpers I think BTW: Whilst on the subject of front bumpers...... What do you guys use to attach you number plates? I noticed at the show they all get removed but they HAVE to go back on when on the road so how do you make sure they stay on whilst driving but are easily removed for shows wothout leaving sticky crap or peeling paint/laquer with it?A special sticky pad? :?
vdubgirl 3
My number plate has a cloth around it so it doesnt scrath the paint work and is held on by cable ties Eventually I'm getting a smallish motorbike plate for the front of mine soon and were gonna make some tiny brackets so its easy to screw it on and take it off
antera309 3
Mine is fixed to the black plastic lower valence with a couple of tiny screws. The holes barely show when the plate's off. Like Claire, I'm going to get a smaller bike-size plate to go on there.
Earwig 89
Motorbike plates street legal?I like the sound of that. :-)Although I still don't really have a good way of mounting. :-( I have no lower plastic valance on my bumper to fix anything to and the mesh prevents me from cable tying it to the car :-(
vdubgirl 3
i dont think they are legal at all !shy but i used to run a small plate on it before when I have VIW 3777 and my normal bumpers and i never got in to any trouble with it
antera309 3
Motorbike plates street legal?Nah, they're show use only, but they do look good....
