jezmoz 0
shit looking at the clutch cylinder slave today and discovered a huge oil leek all round , looks like the head gasket has gone, what do the pros think, my coolant water has always been muddy but i've never noticed the build up of crud (oil) checked the oil and it was just above minimum , The car runs fine , should i just leave it and top up the oil? To be honest it's probably been like this for ages, you'd have thought the guy who did the service would have spotted it???? Any ideas what it could be ? I'm no expert but looks like head gasket and rocker gasket are both leaking !!!!?????

IbiVR 0
I wouldnt panic. In the last pic thats your rocker cover gasket not head gasket. They dont last forever.Clean it up a bit, and have another look, but if thats where its coming from your looking at an afternoons work and about £30Tom.
mightyvr6 0
I agree with that mine looks the same even with a fairly new head gasket. The rocker cover gasket doesn't seem to seal very well. Maybe thats why VW changed the design on later vr6s.
jezmoz 0
all the talk of dirty coolant and white smoke got me para about the gasket and the fact that it's low on oil etc, but there's no mayo on the oil cap, the dip stick is fine and it runs okay for a 93 car that's done 131,000 miles . i'll give it a clean and have another look.
