beetle.jim 0
Seen these in the demon tweeks catalouge and was wondering how much difference they make. Iv got a obd1 vr with enlarged throttle body, 6 branch manifold and a cold air ind kit. Not chipped so would this be a good alternative?
B6MFD 0
na, as far as im told they do nothing, no increase in power at all, they are for heavily modded cars that need the fuel quicker than the standard fuel pump can deliver, so on a basically standard car do bugger all, its another hype im afraid
flexin 0
i had one of these on my rover 1.8 before i bought my vr and the diffrence was huge the rover had a flat spot around 2500 rpm after fitting it, it was gone and the car reved a lot more freely. i only had an induction kit and straight through exhaust on it so personally i like themjohn
B6MFD 0
suppose im only going on what iv been told, dont actually have any personal experiences
matth76 1
You're right Ash they don't increase power at all. What they do is increase the fuel pressure (they're normally called fuel pressure regulators) and increase the 'response' of the engine lower down the rev range. You should get better pick up but no actual power increase. The Golf VR6 normally has a 3 bar fuel pressure regulator when the 2.9 corrado has a 4 bar. It's quite a good and relatively cheap (at around £50-70) mod to fit a 4 bar fuel pressure reg. to a golf vr6 to increase the "response" of the engine lower down. The Phirm recommend them.I'm getting one fitted fairly soon.
MrBen 0
At the VR6OC RR day before last, one guy had fitted one of these, along with some other mods, and actually saw his bhp figure reduce quite a bit compared to before! Just bolting one of these on can wreck the running of the car - they should really only be used where a specialist fits it because more fuel pressure is needed, and who will set it to the correct pressure. VR6Pete 1,455
Wouldnt bother with a FSE boost valve... total waste of money, just get your existing 3bar one modified, even cheaper than buying a 4 bar
matth76 1
Interesting about the reduction in bhp. I might think twice about one if that is the case. What work needs to be done to the 3 bar one to modify it? Is it worth it?

Snedboy 0
A quick easy way to up the pressure in ure standard regulator is to bash the face of the regulator very lightly with a punch or the likes at each quarter way round to make a small indentation in it and that up's the pressure.NEED to be very gentle mind or u'll poke a hole through it n u dont wanna do that (

Guy 1
I am glad i found this post, I was having then eternal do I or dont I dilema,I spoke top ads at A.M.D. the other day and his suggestion for the fuel reg was to get a double hex socket that just fitted over the end of the reg' and choose the next size down and tap it over the and thus giving it an even 'crush'.I will be 'crushing' mine this evening when I get back from work.I am glad someone else has done this I thought he was pulling my leg a little. katconcarne 0
i got an fse power boost valve for my 8v gti because it had problems with regulating fuel pressure so it was a quick fix, when i part ex'd it i took it off and put it on the vr. it made a huge difference to the 8 valves performance, but took alot of setting up to see an improvement on the vr. in the end i'm glad i've fitted it because of the improved responsiveness, but i wouldn't recommend spending big bucks on one because it's not worth the hassle. i got a much more impressive power gain from the de-cat pipe (which was cheaper!).
