Coilpack / Fuel pump fuse / Relay !!!???

Recommended Posts

I have a few problems with my Golf Vr6 94 ODB1, hoping you guy can help.

Firstly story

I was driving down the Motorway doing 70ish when the acc pedal went rock hard , felt if it was stuck. Pulled over on the hard shoulder and the car died, tried to start it would have any of it just turned over never fired. Popped the bonnet had a check of the usual MAF , plug leads etc all look fine. got back in the car started straight away i was'nt to sure what to think.

Next day on the way down to my local garage conked out again same problem pedal hard etc.Called the AA out checked everything found it to be number 18 fuse (fuel pump relay) , he pulled it out put it back in and the car fired straight up. He told me to take it to a garage just to get the fuse connecters looked. After this the car was fine until i got home and restarted it , it ran on 4 cy ,very lumpy and felt crap.

My garage has told me that the two back pins of the coilpack are not firing and the other four are weak. But this only happens sometimes it runs perfect the other times.

Are the two connected if the coil goes down would this mess the fuel pump up?

Sorry for the long essay but the garage has'nt a clue and im sure that this has happen to someone on here before.

Can anyone throw some light on this?

Many Thanks

Sounds a bit wierd as for pedal going solid i would look inside throttle body just to check there is no faults with butterfly you may find a screw has come loose and causing to stick as for fuel pump relay i dont believe its no18 its bottom right hand fuse in fusebox and gets a feed off of no 53 which sits above fuse box i think 18 is main ignition relay but wont swear to that as for coilpack they can be very temperamental and could just be on its way out i could be wrong .i do know if 18 is playing up it can cause starting problems so try changing that 1st but i reckon its just coincidence that coilpack messing about at same time .
