mrwookie 0
My vr6 is starting to come out with some strange sounds and with the mileage its done i am looking to get the engine rebuilt. So what better place to ask about recommendations for where to take to get the work done. Im currently living in Stevenage, Hertfordshire but dont mind travelling a couple of hours to take the care to some where thats good. So can any on recommend anyone? Also the work wont be happening until march-ish time.Cheers

fabio_vr6 0
you wont need to rebuild the bottom end if its only done that mileage!!! unless it has not been looked after and driven to redline every time its driven lol prob just ideal to rebuild the head fully would give you another 100k easy might be an idea to drop the sump and check the bottom end, if it isnt knocking or anything should be ok tho! I panic as I used to have jap turbo cars whose engines need to be rebuilt almost every 2 minutes !lol:p
VR6Pete 1,455
Providing you dont have any piston slap (worn bores) or the big ends are on the way out, then bottom end should be fine... but personally, I'd just get it all done anyway, then there is no grey areas.Pete

The situation is I currently have a company car and come march time it goes and i'm getting an allowance rather than another car so with this in mind im going to use my vr6 as i dont do that many miles for work but hence why I need it to be rock solid. RIX 0
i heve just had mine done,178tkm roughly 110kmiles,the rings where okey but they where out warmed(dont the egnlish word for that)it means u can bend them with them breaking, the lower tensors was broken and had caused a valve to burn,i had the head renewed raising the comp. plus used the steal gasket 3 angle valve job,new rings new big ends new clutch and waterpump/themostat,chains and gears, olie pump only 2 months old so every thing is new, with the end price i could have bought an new engine in de,but i knew what i had(and its one of the better ones),plus i had my injectors cleaned(for a peace of mind).
