squirreleater 0
Hi, i was trotting along this morning,as you do, at about 75 mph when, just at the end of a bit of dual carrageway, a buzzard decided to commit suicide! One mighty flap of it's wings and WHACK! unto the front valence(spelling??)( had no chance to avoid it)I was quite gutted by this as i like wildlife ect and buzzards are rather stunning birds( and bloody big!!)Any hoo, looking at it i found jammed in my rad was i bit of bone! It managed to make two small holes in one of the upright bits that hold the water, i pulled the feathers/bone/flesh out and it started leaking ~I crimped the alloy ' closed' and used some putty type stuff( for sealing holes) and some rad-weld, ran it up to hot and it did the job !lol It held up on the 30 mile drive home too........Question is,how much is a new rad? and from where? Is it worth getting second hand? maybe breakers yard or a VW specialist?Or just leave it?!Your wisdom is most welcome.stu. purple highline monster 0
you can get it recontioned but it means losing the car while its done etc, new one would be best bet and they arent that expensive even vw ones, gsf and euro car parts do them too, it will probably hold fine for a while until the hot weather gets here! !amazed and then it will let you down when you most need it or in the middle of nowhere! i like wildlife too but not when it f**ks my car up! ~ ps prehaps you should change your user id to "buzzardeater"
