bazz780 0
ok guys, i need advice, will it be cheaper to buy another VR6 that rusted etc and transplant the engine and sell the other parts from the car? its quite hard to find an engine from a breakers and taking their word for what the mileage is. purple highline monster 0
only if its a late spec car with lots of good trim and interior parts or good panels maybe even leather etc dont get an early car they have blue interior trim eeeek!
bazz780 0
makes sense - thanks - what you think of a 41K mile engine with 6 months warranty for 800 inc VAT and delivery
Seademon 0
That sounds pretty good to me
bazz780 0
plus 425 for gearbox plus money for a new clutch so im looking at 2000 all inclusive

antera309 3
lol oops' date=' that one is 750 quid just engine no gearbox[/quote']LOL. I bought a whole car with 75k miles for
bazz780 0
i guess so, so you think that a 41k mile engine and recon box and new clutch is too much if it adds to 2000 parts and labour?
mk3anni 0
I wouldn't pay that.Get a complete engine for
tinny22 11
i sold a engine with 35,000 for
bazz780 0
tinny: if you still had it i would have bitten your arm off for it.i think that will be the best bet, buy a VR6 for a max 2000 pounds and strip what i need then sell the rest on.
Seademon 0
Did you hear from Strictly Dubs? What did they say? Have you asked on Ed38 if anyone has a spare engine etc - if someone has at least you can trust them more a little bit more than someone you'll find on ebay or from at a breakers
bazz780 0
strictly dubs dont have one at the moment they saidiv found another at a breakers from a 1996 P reg vr6, 68K miles 2 months warranty for 650 inc VAT and delivery.
purple highline monster 0
is that with a gearbox?
bazz780 0
nope - no one is selling with gearbox, only place is on ebay where its 650 from an L reg thats done 60k miles and been sitting since 2001
purple highline monster 0
mmm thats not an horendous price if its a goodun inc vat and delivered, shame they havent got the box too, the L reg one probably is risky, at least with the P reg one you will be able to do a straight swap, and you will have a chance to get the inlet manifold polished to sell on or keep and have fitted to yours? bazz780 0
true say.... tuesday AM i am going to order the engine for delivery asap, and i will also tell my mechanic i want a recon gearbox, that way i will have a years guarantee on the gearbox and new clutch.will stand me in at 1500 all inclusive including a service as well.sounds ok to me!! just want the car back to life - oh and i will probably sell the inlet manifold/coilpack/throttle body etc once iv ran the nwe engine to make sure i dont need em for myself.
