matth76 1
HiCleaned and waxed my car this afternoon today (when it was still sunny) as usual but when I was rubbing off the wax on the roof I found I was rubbing ice off. The wax had obviously frozen in combination with earlier than usual dew. I tried rubbing it all off with a cotton cloth. My question is will I have scratched my roof by rubbing the ice of with a cotton cloth? Unfortunately it's dark now to see but wondered if anyone might know?ThanksMatt
Slim 0
Haven't you got a torch?
silverline 0
i doubt very much ice would scratch the paint work. it would melt before it scratched, unless there was grit in the ice then it might scratch.
binliner 0
you'd be surprised how easy it is to scratch paint but Im sure if it has it wont be anything that can't be polished out
matth76 1
Cheers guys put my worries at rest. I guess I'll know for sure in the morning... assuming it's sunny enough to melt the ice!I couldn't tell if it was scratched (not because it was dark...I do have a torch lol) but because the dew had settled which by that time started to freeze straight away. I assume it will be fine.. just a bit paranoid after the other week when I scratched a bit of the paint work...with a chamois leather!
Nerih 0
i had some wax like substance that had leaked out of my boot cavity on a mk2, and i took the back of a kitchen sponge to it (the green part) and it made swirl marks in the paint, i agree with justin, its fucking easy to damage this shit.
