Big P 1
Hmmm, i wonder if they have switched the red and the yellow cable around on the lead on the back which you have to do on old golfs but dont belive you do on the mk3's, if they have then i belive that would cause it to stay on,,,,,,could be wrong mind :| The buzzer stopped working on mine at the weekend, and found that the buzzer relay was loose, pluged it in and it was fine, if its the same as mine its the bottom relay when you look up from the foot well its nearest the door, hope that helps a bitPaul
cadguy77 0
Sounds like the Halfrauds muppet has tapped into the the constant live feed to the lights buzzer. This would explain the lose of buzzer and the headunit staying on. You may need to re-wire the headunit 'ignition on' wire to the ignition barrel. Maybe?
shail 0
I had to swap the red and yellow wires on both my Mk3's over so that the HU turned off with the ignition.
jpc 0
I've got a mrk3 vr6, so swapping around the red and yellow should solve? Would this be the cause of the buzzer you think?
binliner 0
swapping the red and yellow means the hu doesnt stay on but you dont lose your settings everytime... the buzzer sounds like another issue like cadguy said

Big P 1
Does the radio not tune in or does it not have a very good signal. if they used an iso adaptor then there is a break with plugs in the cable that you can just switch over, if it isn't getting very good reception then you may need an arial booster, you usually only need them on the mk4's but i needed one on mine in the end
jpc 0
It does not auto tune but sometimes I can get a signal manually but its weak. I was thinking that the plug might have fallen out during the install, it seemed to work straight after but when I was driving the signal dropped out.

Yellow usually is ignition on and red is constant live (for memory). Try it yourself, it's not too hard.Coming to think of it doesn't sound like the buzzer prob is related, unless the muppet run a new wires from the ignition barrel
Big P 1
I would try a booster mate, halfords sell them, (i used to fit sterios for them) the shame, it might make a difference
