If the throttle has a stepper motor in it and no idle valve, it's OBD2, otherwise OBD1. OBD2 Golfs were the very late ones, so unlikely your M is OBD2.

ok tolk the ash tray out cant see any thing behind it or and other clips that open also tolk all the blanks out just above the tray nothing there either? strange or am i blind its a m-reg any body else got this year and found theres

found the the port it has the 16pin type

if you've got an odb2 already, then i think itll make a difference if its overbored, if youve got an odb1, it wont work without changing the engine harness, ecu, transponder and keys.
