yeeha 0
Anyone got any idea what could be causing my car to be slow on pick up. Its worst in 1st gear, i can plant my foot, full throttle but the car hardly starts moving till im over 2-2.5k RPM Not the best.... is this normal?thanka all
tommy 0
Has the car always felt like this? IMO the vr does feel flat off the mark up to 2500rmp in 1st gear....i ride the clutch a little in first which normally helps if i want a quick start!
yeeha 0
Yes mate, its always been the same... it seems to take an age, once shes wound up its all good fun, but the pick up in 1st is hurrendous. Maybe a rechip/remap is in order
acf8181 0
you have to launch it with the revs over 3000rpm to get a good start...but you have to have the grip to that.

[/quote'] %-6 ?! !dodge thats new to me...i just ride the clutch a bit off the mark, then gun it, foot to the floor all the way to 70 on motorways and 40 in a
kilokilla 0
Only problem with that is you burn your clutch out double quick Tommy ,thats fine if you got money to blow but personally i prefer to save mine.

[/quote']that may be due to the fact that you're sitting there doin a burnout! lol!they best accelaration is had by keeping the engine in its power band (so on a vr6 4000-6500), and having the slightest slight of wheelspin.but you also wanna let the clucth out as smoothlay as possible, but not to slow as to burn the clutch...it's a balancing act.[ Edited Thu Apr 22 2004, 11:11AM ]

FishWick 21
The VR has got a tall 1st, so you need to slip the clutch a bit to get smooth and rapid take-offs. The standard clutch is plenty strong enough to cope with it.K
yeeha 0
Thanks a mil for all of the replies peeps, appreciated BTW, if there's anyone in the West Lothian are who wants to meet up, let me know. Reason being, I've always wanted to see how my VR compares against another standard VR. So if anyone's in the area gimme a shout - remember we can only plant it up to 70mph tho
mina 0
Have you checked your fuelling - the pressure might be down?
madmonkee 0
if ya have a freeflowing exhaust the torque band moves up even higher so it feels even slower!
