I need some info as I can't make up my mind. Need to replace the front tyres and want a pair that are excellent in the wet and not soft as I do around 25k miles per year.

ones I am looking at are;

Toyo T1-S

Uniroyal Rainsport 1

Goodyear Eagle F1

Will consider others but looking on review websites theses seem to come out on top.

Cheers

Yes they do - help that is....

For my two cents, I have used the Proxes, and they have unrelenting grip...until it rains. I used them for a while and also had a friend who span his 'rado with these on a badly cambered STRAIGHT road in the wet.

I now have Falken Ziex 512'S which are a fair compromise. BF Goodrich were on the Golf when we got it and they were nice and progressive.

tbh...I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the above.....I’m running rainsports and have done for a couple of years now with no complaints what so ever..........for the sort of miles your doing, the t1s would not be my 1st choice, as they are a very soft compound and not sure you'd get 25k out of a set...like the others say t1r's would be a better choice should you choose go down the toyo route, and as for f1 eagles...a top tyre...if I could afford a set I’d be running them on all my cars...lol :P

i used to have pirelli p zero's, they were definately not as good as the t1-r it was the first set of tyres 17's i had on my golf, so i thought it was the profile, but they allow too much road noise in, are unccomfortable, and from the balding on the passenger edge, constantly lose grip (and understeers) on right hand corners....once i backed off, and got oversteer, they arent predictable, taking my toyo's to the track (my car isnt that fast though) was alot better, although i did get through 1 set in a day.
