craggsy 91
Right I need to do oil and filter change on the car as service light has changed. I know the filter is in the housing but do i just undo the bottom nut to drain the oil then take the bottom off the housing to change the filter.......its not as easy as mk2 16v!!! shail 0
Yes, its that simple. The allen key screw on the bottom of the filter housing just drains the oil from inside the housing. Its recommended that the 'O' ring for the allen key screw is replaced.
antera309 3
A new O ring for both the drain bolt and the plastic filter housing cover should be included with the oil filter. It is a good idea to "dry crank" the engine (turn it over on the starter with the plug leads disconnected) for about 10 seconds or so before starting. Otherwise, the engine is starved of oil while the filter housing fills back up.
coullstar 2
Can you not just fill up the new filter with oil before screwing it on?
purple highline monster 0
in my experience you just need to fill the oil as normal, the oil pump is at the bottom so once you restart it will pump oil straight to all the places it needs to go! too messy trying to fill filters etc, i wouldnt recommend dry starting any engine!!! Ciaran 4
just fill the filter first save starvation and who ever changed their oil and didn't get dirty like!!
