Charged vr6 0
hi there guys, i've been having loads and loads of problems with my Vr, i've got a k plate, 81k, jus got the plugs and oil and oil filter and brakes discs changed (service)The power is lacking like anything, i just dont move, there is no g force no head shooting bak, i raced my mates 16v gti and he had me by a car or too and i was like (big time)i had someone connect to the ports (near the cig lighter) and he said both the engine speed sensor and hall sensor are not working, arent coming up on the computer or something like that... (but also mentioned u dont need both of them :? )I need ur advice big time, as i want the car to move and it isn't, its really depressing, any ideas? could it b the sensors? (another source said if the engine speed sensor was out or not working the car wouldn't start, not work etc)i am completly lost and as the price of just 1 sensor from vw is
mightyvr6 0
It's sounds like the hall (cam sensor). Costs about
andy 0
The engine speed sensor always registers as a fault if the engine isn't running, its just a bug in the software, ignore it. Agree with mightyvr6, change the hall sender, cheap and easy.

Charged vr6 0
i just rang the chiswick VW, they saying it doesn't have a hall sensor/sender on the car !mistrust v(guy seemed like a twat) saying go and see a mech and then tell him to ring us ~
mightyvr6 0
hall sensor = hall sender = cam sensor
Charged vr6 0
I went to the twickenham VW, and the mech was a good guy and had a look at the car quickly and found that the lambada sensor (dnt knw how to say it) one of the wires was like cut or broken, so he told me to sort that out and see how it works.Well to my suprise i attached the wires together and the car is runnin more smoother and slightly quicker but still very slow, my second gear at 4,500, 5000 and onwards dies out, i lost to a 2.0 perlude and my mates gti 16v again Vw call the hall sensor etc a Impluse Senser/sensor, and said it wouldn't effect the car by 20 30 bhp..any ideas? mightyvr6 0
They're talking crap. I've seen vr6s at rolling road days with knackered cam sensors lose 20 odd bhp.
fabio_vr6 0
if it is the hall sender it wont rev over 5k!
meek 0
Sounds to me like your clutch. Trying to lay power down in a low gear and going nowhere is good early sign. Possibly the torque is overwelcoming your clutch in the mid band. If the car is not springing forward when you change gear at high rpm have it looked at. Check the following1) Does car revs all the way to the readline smootly and quickly in 2nd gear. If it doesnt then its fuel starvation i.e fuel pump or clutch2) Check airfilter is clean3) Timing might be off. Retardation of ignition timing will result in significant lack of torque and spongy throttle response.4) Send it to a good mechanic

I got a K&N n it starts to scream at that point dont know why, !dodge I've got in contact with a VW tec, so i will see wht happens from there and inform u guess
stockers 1
i found pretty much most after market performance air systems are deffening above 4000rpm so don't worry about that.i would recommend talking to someone like stealth racing,my timing was slightly out and i was losing around 70bhp stealth tuned it up to 194bhp,they are always very friendly on the phone and really know what they are talking about.
