Not sure why people think the plastic one is awful considering if untouched will last 100k miles, if you need to remove for any reason then only replace with genuine items.

never had any issues with them on any of my VR6's over the last 10 years

I've just stripped/rebuilt my engine & after 150,000 miles, I've found absolutely nothing wrong with the OEM plastic crack pipe & housing.. I just bunged them in the dish washer & replaced all the seals, thermostat & temp sensor with new bits.. And hey presto!! Like new again
