vr6max 0
I want my vr6 to sound better and more grunty as my mates 8valve sounds better under 4000 revs and was wondering if a k&n filter would do this? ?! !ill
adeingolf 0
Not much to the power, BUT the sound..... let the vr thrill you with its intended chorus!!!Trust me you will enjoy it! :-)

FishWick 21
Hmmmm....I hate induction noise. VR6s sound classier with the standard breathing apparatus. They sound too basmati for liking when messed about with.
binliner 0
isnt basmati a type of rice?!
adeingolf 0
basmati?!! Surely its better than the pop pop popadum from nova boys?(Ill get me coat!)
six appeal 53
They sound awesome witha cone filter, half the reason I have had mine so long, just don't think I could live without that noise! They are quiet of you are driving "sensibly", but nail the GO pedal and all hell breaks loose! So boring driving my other VW's as they sound pants compared to the VR!
six appeal 53
PS. don't get a K and N as mine fell apart after about 4 months on the VR! Take a peek in the classifieds on here or that well known auction site, as there are always ones for sale in there.
jcorallo 0
Got to admit, the sound of a K&N on my VR was good for the first couple of months - then I started to feel embarassed actually - you would find that it would make LOADS of noise just trying to overtake normally - but you wouldnt be going that fast in reality. You kind of get sick at people looking at you on the street when you are not actually doing that much...I really enjoyed putting the stock airbox back on - it was whisper quiet and still pulled the same - stealthy!!I could ramp up the revs in built up areas and it didnt attract attention to what I was up to.....! Chris355 0
my K&N fell off too after about 4-5 months, man was the VR heavy to steer with no power, and it is a little egg fryed (rice), sorry basmati when overtaking. thinking of changing it, any suggestions? [/quote']Spot on that man I messed around with the airbox on mine, removed the helmholtz resonator and the front input tube and the whole bloomin dash shook when the engine came on cam....nasty!The BMC carbon intake is a tasty bit of kit tho, if a tad expensive!
