Supercharged VR6 - plus a few other questions abotu my engine generally

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I recently got myself a supercharged VR6 after wanting one for many years. Its a stage 1 ODB 2 car (had a standard VR6 7 years ago, and still miss it)

Sorry i have searched but there seems to be lots of information scattered all over the place and i am trying to get my head around this.

Now its a V-engineering one, which are one of the early ones (and have gone bankrupt, now RUF in germany can help and suppy bits), and i believe it has one of the early maps from Vince, as when its cold it doesn't like to idle. So a remap is on the cars to sort this out.

Now whilst i was thinking about the re-map from vince, it makes sense to try and go to a stage 2 setup, to try and get the most from the map ;-) so whats involved with this and what is recommended? is it a case of smaller pulley (with belt) and bigger injectors or anything else i should do?

I was thinking of uprated engine mounts and a oil cooler (its already running a stainless manifold and exhaust) but what are the best to get

Also the car is making a strange noise on idle (about 600rpm) like a dry bearing from the supercharger area/surpentine belt area, but this goes when the revs creep up a bit, i was going to investigate this in more detail tomorrow, but any pointers would be great?

Thanks in advance

Mark

Up rating the engine mount and fitting a cooler is never a bad thing. I had a ebay oil cooler in my last VR which WANs good quality and showed a decent reduction in oil temps. Although doing it again I'd probably get one with a thermostatic plate.

Why not give stealth a call and discuss going stage 2 with them. Might as well get it from the horses mouth!?
