Ive changed all the sensors on my abs system, yet my abs light is still on! Upon further inspection, i discovered that controller on the side of the pump, was unplugged. But when i have plugged it back in, it still doesnt give me any response to my vag.com. Any ideas?

hi, there are hundreds of threads regarding the ABS light issues. it seems that a lot of VW/Audi's from about '93-'04 have the same problem with the actual controller (sits on top of the pump) i had the same and got my controller remanufactured by BBA reman (google it) about 2 years ago and no more problems. if you use another unit i believe you need to have it coded to your car.

good luck

Mines A an the one on ebay is B. will this make a difference? Im totally at a loss here an not sure what to do.

Another thing to check is that there is a separate wire that runs from the obd2 socket to the ABS ECU.

I had an issue on my mk3 where the ECU was not communicating with vag com and it just ended up as the wire had snapped, however as the ECU plug has been unplugged, would suggest that there could be a fault with the unit.

As mentioned, you'll need to get your hands on an ECU and ABS pump as they are "matched" so get looking at some breakers :)

Mine has the same problem & as it's going in for the MOT at the start of February I need to sort this.... Did the come back with a price & would you mind telling us? I have a replacement ABS pump/ecu but it hasn't been tested so I think it would be safer to send the original away for remanufacture.

Cheers

I'd be keen on knowing the price too, hoping new sensors will sort out my light though but would be good to known a price if not

Is it just the orange ABS light that comes on or does the red hand brake/problem light come on too? If it's just the orange one then it's most likely the sensors but if it's both then it's probably the pump/ecu that's gone :(

Hi, it was a couple of years ago but i believe it was about £160'ish (mine only lit the ABS light) easy way to check the rears is VAG com, check which side is error'ing clear the fault and lift the rear seat, both the sensors connect here swap the left for right (and vice versa) recheck vag com and if the same side still errors its the controller, if the fault changes sides then likely the sensor.

Give BBA a call for pricing 01634 687222 their website says they keep some in stock (would need coding though). i would VAG com it first to get the correct part no. as well

good luck

hi

right i had both lights come on on my vr so ive sent the pump/ecu to bba reman, which may i add were fantastic, and they got back to me in a matter of days [ 4 including weekend] and they have tested it and have said its fine, so am now stuck as to where to turn next.....price for a test was £35 and £20 to have it returned next day which i think is fantastic value and service....if anyone has any ideas as to what the problem could be, then please im in turmoil...thanx guys

When you vagcom it does it show "Terminal 30 low voltage"?

It didn't show any ABS faults for mine when we ran a check but it did show Terminal 30 low voltage, with a bit of interweb surfing this comes back as a fault in the ABS ECU..... I suppose BBA will have checked that though?

It was so much easier when you could rip the whole ABS system out & still get an MOT!
