Zonda_ 0 Posted April 21, 2005 Report Share Posted April 21, 2005 My 94 Vento has a strange problem. Sometimes it seems to loose about 50bhp. It happened yesterday when driving home so I dipped the clutch an reved it, it felt very lazy/slow and it wouldn't pull past 5000rpm. 5 minutes later I repeat it and it screams round to the limiter. This happens more and more frequently, sometimes when driving it's like someone flicking a switch, the increase in power is that sudden!I've had it suggested that it could be the catalyst failing and that it is blocking and clearing itself. Symptom that back this up are the car is running hotter and is struggling to get 200 miles out of a tank of motorway cruising (I was seeing 300+ before)Suggestions? Link to post Share on other sites

Adam 0 Posted April 22, 2005 Report Share Posted April 22, 2005 I'd agree, I had a very similar problem with an old cavalier gsi and it ended up throwing up a load of fault codes from the ECU. Try a diagnostics test first and hopefully that might point you in the right direction.Adam. Link to post Share on other sites
