rsweeney 40 Posted March 23, 2012 Report Share Posted March 23, 2012 vr6 has been sat for a few weeks whilst waiting for parts.started vr after changing tensioner pulley and suddenly battery light has just come on. let it run for a while and still its on,. tried anpother good battery in it which is basically new and its still on.any ideas? russj249 2 Posted March 23, 2012 Report Share Posted March 23, 2012 Have you knocked the plug off the back of the alternator by accident while changing belt and pulley? or is the little wire that goes to it split.anywhere.As Tony said above, battery light on dash means its not charging so get that checked, and also again as Tony said, i would expect between 14.2 and 14.6v charge from a good alternator. oldmandon 1 Posted March 24, 2012 Report Share Posted March 24, 2012 Tensioner and belt shouldn't affect the tick over, it may just be coincidental from where it's been stood a while, as if the choke was on. probably settle if you give it a run.Battery light defo to do with alternator and belt. Is the belt correctly tensioned? As already mentioned, is the block connector at the back of the alternator in correctly? Link to post Share on other sites
