vr6matt 0
Hey guys,I was on the motorway the otherday crusing along at 80 and a corrado vr6 came absolutley flying past me, must have been at least 130 and scared the crap out of me. &| I have always known corrado vr's are quick but was just wondering whether there was a MASSIVE difference between the corrado and golf. The 0-60 for the vr is 7.1 and corrado is 6.7 (according to parkers) Is the corrado majorly faster in reality?CheersMatt
goodboy1451 0
Well, the Corrado VR6 has a 2.9 litres engine which provides 190 bhp versus teh Golf VR6's 2.8 litres which has only 174 bhp.
ebmurray 0
vr6matt, they are quicker as standard. 80mph isn't the top whack out of the Golf VR don't forget! I've had 140mph out of mine and there'll be peeps on here who've had 150mph + out of theirs! All illegal on English roads I might add! :?
six appeal 53
To be honest I don;t think there much if anything in it, in fact I can;t remember ever losing a race to a Rado? But again there's so many factors in it. Very rare to find a standard Golf or Rado nowadays!
andy 0
Having had both.........ie speaking from experience. The Corrado is significantly quicker, or rather my Corrado is significantly quicker than my Golf. I've also been in a Schricked OBD2 Golf and was completely underwhelmed by it. Everyone who has been in both of mine says how infinitely more grunty the rado is, not to mention the superior handling. My golf had Konis/Eibachs/Ramair/Scorpion and the Rado is completely standard with 30k more miles on it too. I wouldn't go back now.....
peppyuk 0
A friend of mine at work after never being happy with the way his Golf VR6 drove, he replaced it with a Corrado VR6 which I would agree with Andy said above,The Corrado is significantly quicker' date=' or rather my Corrado is significantly quicker than my Golf. not to mention the superior handling. [/quote']Th Corrado has a few more rattles than his Golf but 'feels' much more like a high performance car should.
mightyvr6 0
Agree with Andy. It's strange how two very similar cars can feel so different. The corrado is a great all round package.[ Edited Mon Mar 21 2005, 12:14AM ]
Seademon 0
3 words - can of worms! :0)
cliveyp 0
I've quite recently sold my Corrado and bought the Highline, and much prefer the Golf. The Corrado was nice, don't get me wrong, but not THAT good. The Golf feels nippier to me too, as well as much better built. Can't argue with it handling better though! vr6matt 0
Cheers guys,My vr is standard engine wise apart from a k&n filter and only has 42k on it so is still v.quick, but was just wondering if a corrado was worth getting in the future as my mates have said they are a more "brutal" unrefined version of the golf, might be something to start saving for! !amazed CheersMatt
cliveyp 0
Definately more un refined as far as build goes, but not that much more "brutal" if you ask me.......... You do get a lot more attention though.....
badboyV6 4
Ill soon be having a test drive in a mates chipped corrado VR6. I used to own a 1.8 16V Corrado and i thought it was dire. Far too slow!! Look nice though and if you own a Storm youre a very lucky person :-)

silverline 0
my VR has an induction kit but is other wise standerd put it on a rolling road sunday and it was producing 184bhp-well chuffed! stock VR's seem to produce more power than the manufacturer say's, other cars seem to go the other way. i raced a new mini cooper S last night it just managed to make it past me but as we went thru the 120mph mark i really gained on him!! Joe M 0
Golf figures may be higher than they should be and near to the claimed standard corrado output, but also consider a lot of corrados make more power than they should as well. Mine made 205bhp before I done anything to it.
