Just got car back from MOT. Nice local garage with nice people. Needed a new bulb and number plate.

Checked my trip computer - they did 32 miles in it with an ave mpg of 20! Now im no expert but i dont think "drive the nuts of the car" is a test item for the MOT.

that winds me up....a garage once did 200 miles in my previous car when it was supposedly in bits! they even left the fuel receipt in the glovebox....oh, and it had no tax at the time! no way you can prove it really though.

No - definitely not- i used to work for a garage in the summers when i was younger. You just need a 4 post ramp, beam testers (which were never use!) and brake testers. The rest is done by checking for play, checking for rust and worn parts such as pads/discs, suspension bushes, checking seatbelts and other safety issues like jagged edges on bodywork etc... Easy really- thats how most garages get there work- Britsh Leyland/ Rover cars were always a winner cos of the welding!!!!! Never seen a mk2 needing welding..... :-)
