paceo 22
whats a good PSI reading on each cylinder on the vr6 2.8?also if i remember from past cars, do you take the fuse out for the fuel pump and screw the PSI guage into the spark plug bore?
russj249 2
My compressions were roughly 150 - 180psi across all 6 cylinders. And to do the compression test remove spark plugs, the fuel pump fuse and make sure you disconect the coil pack too.. i got zapped trying to test a spark plug lead once on my VR6 - 1st time I've ever had a bad one and lost all feeling in my fingers for half hour or so!Also crank the engine over the same amount of times per cylinder. I normally count 5 - 6 times, or 5 or 6 seconds will probably be enough for an accurate reading.

Goguvarra 0
i checked mine today and they all reported around 11-12 and one was about 9 . Should I worry about that one ? Does it affect driving ?
russj249 2
I don't think thats a massive drop to be honest. I can't remember properly but I think that's still within the tolerances. No doubt someone on here can inform you of what the tolerances actually are.
Goguvarra 0
well poster above said 7.5 is the lowest acceptable limit. I was just wondering if having a difference...well makes a noticeable difference in how the engine behaves )
