badboyV6 4
Anyone here got FK front indicators etc? Ive managed to get hold of a second hand set for next to nothing. Only thing is the indicator bulb socket wont fit into the FK item, any ideas? Cheers
badboyV6 4
From where the wires leave the loom it is an oval 2 pin connection whereas the FK item is square 2 pin connection...
binliner 0
I thought the standard connector was square?
Seademon 0
I fitted mine on Sat - ordered them from Awesome & they were just a straight forward plug and play with the original VW ones on mine - a kind of rectangular/square connector with 2 pins. I did change the blue lights that come in them though because aswell as looking a bit tacky they would be illegal! Changed them for some white ones, look real good at night![ Edited Wed Feb 16 2005, 12:34PM ]
badboyV6 4
Yeah they are 2 pin rectangular on the lights that ive got which is good news however ive unplugged the bulb holder from the plug and mine are an oval type!?!?! so they wont fit together. Am i being completely dumb here and missing something?????
Geastb 0
Mine were straight plug and play, although i did leave the blue bulbs in and it passed the mot no problem!
badboyV6 4
The one on the left is the socket coming from my new FK item, the one oe the left is what is coming from the car[ 1193_dscf0084.jpg ]
Geastb 0
I can't remember what mine looked like! I'll have to take it off to have a look! I'm sure my FK plugs looked different tho!
Seademon 0
When I fitted mine - the OE one didnt look the same as yours but my FK connectors are the same as yours and plugged straight in - could you get a couple of connectors from a breakers or something and just swap the plugs on the car over?[ Edited Wed Feb 16 2005, 02:36PM ]
binliner 0
the plug on my loom doesnt look like that... does it look like it's been changed, any connectors on there?
badboyV6 4
No it looks completely standard- all ive done is take the buld holder off of this and this is whats left. The bulb holder is moulded to the same shape as well so its seems strange...... all oe though..
binliner 0
will the oe bulb holder fit in the fks?

badboyV6 4
Dont want to really start butchering my wiring .....
Geastb 0
Mine were a straight forward fit - are yoy sure you have the correct wiring plug?
badboyV6 4
hmmmm. Ive taken the white bulb socket off and my thinking was i supposed to use this to plug the FK item- heres the plug i took off my VR. Again compare this to the other picture...... thanks guys[ 1193_dscf0086.jpg ]
shail 0
Had the same problem with mine. The indicators and fogs i bought 2nd hand have the square connector but the cars loom has an oval connector. I still haven't fitted them. What reg is your car? i was told that VW may have started to use Mk4 connectors on late Mk3's. Mine was registered Dec 1997 R-plate.Dont cut the loom on your car - you'll only regret it. Try going to a breakers and seeing if any of the lights on the Mk4 / other VAG have the oval conenctor.
badboyV6 4
Mines a P plate- registered 27 June 97. Bummer!! Ive just been to the local VW breakers and come to the same conclusion. Basically im screwed unless i cut my loom (not really an option!) or speak to FK and see what they can sort.... Seademon 0
No help to your wiring prob but heres a pic of mine with them fitted with the white lights in, look much better & brighter in real life (I had the flash on) I think they look the nuts! binliner 0
you could rig up a bit of cable connected between your standard indicator connector and the FK one
shail 0
i was thinking about using these and a bit of wire. Don't know what sort of ampage the lights run on so they might not be able to take it. Also will need to waterproof the connections on the loom to stop them rusting internally.Just need to get my arse to maplins to see if they will fit.http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1071&TabID=1&source=15&WorldID=3&doy=16m2http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?ModuleNo=1070&TabID=1&source=15&WorldID=3&doy=16m2
badboyV6 4
V nice seademon- im now depressed How do you propose to do this binliner? You have my full attention.....
badboyV6 4
Nice one shail- thats an option- as you said just need some way of sealing it. Surely theres a male and femail version of these plugs? If we could get one of each then i could solder both together to make a gender changer of sorts....
badboyV6 4
female not femail !!!! lol
VR6Rich 3
When I did mine I found the same problem as you Warren. Have you tried using your standard bulb holders on the FK lights? Mine had to have some of the lugs removed to be able to push the bulb holder into the indicator. Some of them were already broke anyway. :-)
