rsweeney 40
hey guys how do i remove the drivers side driveshaft ? i dont want to disturb the bearings. its just the cv joint has come apart and the driveshaft boot needs putting on.
UnitedMotorsport 55
You will need to press the outer CV joint out of the hub with either a press or a hub puller.
rsweeney 40
ok so its not as simple as removing the nut and pushing the shaft forward and out ?
cabrioman 6
it mite not come out easy i normally remove the bottom ball joint, track rod end unbolt it from the drive shaft cup, pull away from the cup, and then remove the big nut and hit the end with a copper hammer dont use a hard ball pain hammer as it will damage the thread and you wont get the new nut on ..... you will also need to raise the engine on the drive side to allow the inner cup to come out .... spadam 7
And if they haven't been greased the last time the driveshafts were fitted u may need a sledge hammer as me and paul found out.
cabrioman 6
normal thread put a screw drive in one off the vent gaps so it locks against the calliper .... they normally are tight mate

b road blaster 0
hit the nut mate but make sure its on far enough so its got a good grip on the threads better than hiting the end of shaft because that can swell the threads and you won't get the nut back on
