RACK 1
Not sure if this is a silly question or not (although prob silly as I've just asked that ) but how come it seems pretty easy to turbo the 12v but not so much the 24v V6?
Nex 17
Do you mean easier to get a turbo kit for the 12V then the 24V?
craggsy 91
24v is as easy to turbo, just need to look harder.A few R32 kits that I know off but not sure if they would work on the 2.8 tho
RACK 1
Sorry, I didn't word it very well.Yes there seems to be plenty of options and kits to tune the VR6 and a fair few for the R32 but not many about for the 4mo.Plus with the 12v it seems to be do-able pretty cheap compared to the 4mo
Nex 17
Yes they do seem to be more pricey for the 24v not sure why lolthese guys do kits for the 4mohttp://www.vr6specialist.nl/tuning/?t=en&p=tun11&id=1161950783&filter=7&pn=2also stealth were going to start work on a 24v kit but l havent heard anything on it for a while so not sure. Nex 17
yup wouldnt mind one myself lolI have also sent a message to C2 to see if their kits fit RHD, just waiting to hear back as they are much cheaper for stage 1 at about £2.5k.

UnitedMotorsport 55
yup wouldnt mind one myself lolI have also sent a message to C2 to see if their kits fit RHD' date=' just waiting to hear back as they are much cheaper for stage 1 at about £2.5k. [/quote']C2 has nothing to fit the RHD market AT ALL. I know this, because I developed everything that is RHD specific.Everything is more expensive simply because of the age difference. With newer cars comes newer technology and this is the main reason this could be more expensive. There is also more things to consider on the later engines, of course the price of a turbo or waste gate is the same no matter which engine you fit it too.The time needed on the fabrication work is a lot higher on the 4motion compared to the MK3 and this of course is proportional to cost. FishWick 21
Here's a reasonably priced way into 24VT ownership and rather handily covers FWD (inc conversions) and 4WD. You can also retain the original intake manifold.http://www.spturbo.com/onlinestore/index.php/vw/mk4/vr6-24v/boost/24v-vr6-turbo-manifold.htmlhttp://www.spturbo.com/onlinestore/index.php/vw/mk4/vr6-24v/boost/atp-gt3076r-turbo-hardware-kit-for-24v-vr6.htmlTheir 24V manifold looks to be a lot better quality than their 12V one. I sent a message asking if the kit would fit and so far I have been asked if it is AWD or FWD, if it is coil on plug or coilpack and what is the ECU number. Why does the ECU number matter? Just out of interest
spadam 7
Shame they dont sell a kit for the mk3 vr6 12v

They can only cater for 1 type. They wont say that they dont have a kit to fit RHD, Ask who ever you are talking to (Chris Collier?) to categorically answer the question yes or no. spadam 7
Unitedmotosport/ Matt do you have a kit for sale for the mk3 vr6 or can you supply the parts for a kit. I just cant seem to find anyone doing downpipes and i cant weld.
FishWick 21
You're in Portsmouth, why not give JKM a bell? They've done a few VRTs.Given how tight a 3" pipe is over the steering rack, I doubt any companies in the UK will put their name to a DIY downpipe. They all prefer it to be custom made in house. UnitedMotorsport 55
We have 3" downpipes for both MK4 and MK5 4wd chassis.

FishWick 21
We have 3" downpipes for both MK4 and MK5 4wd chassis. Why don't you have a kit then? The fabrication is the most tedious bit. If you've done that and the software already, then.... ?
