leroyburrell 0
hi my 1992 vr6 has got a problem when starting from cold, it idles fine for a few seconds then just dies. heard it could be the idle control valve, any ideas?cheersleon
acf8181 0
sure i've replied to an identical thread recently.does it die very suddenly or kind of splutter and stall?
VRmonster 1
i have noticed quite a pattern in your replies. they always seem to have something to do with the ISV. lol. just going to hijack for a moment. is it possable to get rid of the isv on obd1 cars, by means of fitting another type of valve or a later throttle body which has a differnt idle control doesnt it?. as the obd1 setup seems to be pretty crap. lol
acf8181 0
once i cleaned my ISV i had no probs with it whatsoever. at least it always a simple fix.but i don't think this is necessarily an ISV prob. need an answer to my above q really.
dubloke 4
what exactly are the symptoms of a dirty isv, and whats the best way of removing/cleaning it? i think i mu=ight just do mine to be sure its not causing my slightly lumpy idle after choke!
VR6Pete 1,455
I think we should produce a guide for simple procedures like this, any voulounteers?

mightyvr6 0
remove the isv, spray with carb cleaner and lighly oil with 3 in 1.Could be the blue temp sensor making it run a bit too rich at cold start.
