craggsy 91
Genuine will be as good as anything else on the market
VR6-DUB 3
I thought magencor HT leads are ment to give you a bit of a performance kick ???
craggsy 91
No lead will give you a performance gain. Will still be same strength spark generated by the coil pack that goes along lead to the plugs
VR6-DUB 3
so why do lot of peolpe use magencor HT leads?
Ben Seabrook 4
because they think they are better and believe all the bluff written mate - as Craig says OE leads are the best inmo
craggsy 91
Because they do colours that match hoses. Cant always guarantee VW leads will be red, which most want.I got red leads from VW by orering them individually and not as a complete set.I had magnecore 10.5mm thick with sheilding built in that need attaching to the rocker cover, and they cost a fortune. But were no better than the genuine ones i replaced magnecore with. But its upto you what you get as its you cash fella.I know of a few people that switched back to genuine leads
eastwood john 1
same reason ya buy heinz baked beans to the happy shopper variety |-)
VR6-DUB 3
I see, i was just reading the venom motorsport performance website under magencor HT leads, it says about performance check it out http://www.venommotorsport.com/manufacturer_category.php?manufacturer=Magnecor&category=Engine
craggsy 91
As I said ONLY way of getting a bigger spark to the plug is to upgrade whole of the ignition system.Leads just transport spark from coil pack to plug
VR6-DUB 3
It makes sense i will obviously believe you guys on the forum, coz you guys no best, unlike some sales person who will say any s**t to sell you something. thanks guys
Ben Seabrook 4
I see' date=' i was just reading the venom motorsport performance website under magencor HT leads, it says about performance check it out http://www.venommotorsport.com/manufacturer_category.php?manufacturer=Magnecor&category=Engine[/quote']from reading that mate the word performance I read to be associated with delivering the spark rather than any performance gains - my car and several others all ran better on the OE leads, inmo as said above the main reason for getting them is for colour coding in the bay
VR6-DUB 3
Ok guys thats settled, of to VW to buy some red ones as my black ht leads make my engine bay look a bit dull lol. THANKS
iceviolet 1
i got some leads from dubpower.co.uk the other week. Very pleased with them, good quality and at £35 you cant go wrong. Heard good things about them thats why i thought id give them a try. Seem to have cured my slight hesitation under load anyway!!

xyber 1
It's behaving. Fuel has hit £90 fill ups though and a massive supercharger may be in the works depending on what the insurance company has to say, but not really any more expensive to run than my VR.Fun in the snow as well, once I dug it out
VR6-DUB 3
Its been ages mate but good to hear from you again.
FishWick 21
Completely agree. The orginal red VW ones or Schimmels are the best leads I've seen personally. The construction quality of the VW ones is second to none imo.If you want a mega spark, fit a Ford EDIS coilpack and open your plugs out to 1.1mm :-)
breeza18 0
kev i run a ford coilpack but have not opened up my sparkplugs, is it just for a more efficient burn?
yakuza racer 16
would it help much if i fitted MSD coilpacks???what else would i need to make this happen, it's going on a 3.1, 276 cammed vr motor with happy gas
FishWick 21
Bigger, stronger sparks is of more benefit to forced induction really, but it certainly can't hurt a normally aspirated VR6 either! :-)I've done some coil tests, comparing MSD, Bosch and standard and the standard pack is pretty weak, but most VR6s run OK with that. The advantge of the Ford coilpack is cost, they are cheap and the advantage of the Bosch pack is reliability.I wouldn't recommend the MSD coils to be honest, they're hassle and don't last long. yakuza racer 16
So which one would give me More power but also be reliable, but also not cost me an arm and leg.. lol tough one i know8-)
