chief ka kar 0
Am looking into buying a schrick manifold, but i just wanted to know will i need a remap straight away ??
CALICO 130
no some people never have a remap it is worthwhile but better once you have cams done aswell
craggsy 91
I never had a remap when i had my schrick, but it can never hurt to be honest

hvr6 88
Do you have a pic am not sure what you mean thanks ??sure... the throttle body bit is different for OBD1 & 2 the rest is the same' date=' you can buy a Schrick for 'OBD2' and change this bit, just incase you find a bargain for the rest[img']http://i429.photobucket.com/albums/qq16/bensvr6/DSC_7491.jpg

sparkyjr 0
Just thought I would put in my input, had my schrick and shimmel cams fitted by gwerks and asked about a remap and was told it was not needed as the ecu will learn and adjust after 30 od miles. I read loads of people saying I would not get full benefit unless I had a remap, at the end of the day gwerks are experts and they know best.
CALICO 130
g werks are a vw tuner and styling company what makes them experts anybody can start up a company and say they are experts best speaking to those that have had it done as they are the ones in the know
craggsy 91
You will notice a difference from a non mapped to a mapped schricked VR. Trust me, i never had mine mapped and it ran good, but Pete had hios mapped and it ran better lol
FishWick 21
Indeed. The Shrek map needs some timing taking out and a pinch of fuel adding in the right places, otherwise when the peak intake tuning occurs, the standard map runs too lean and pinks.
craggsy 91
But I'm glad I ran a schrick as it made the VR a lot more drivable. And I can let people know about em.
chief ka kar 0
I know the ecu would adjust itself to a point, But i would have thought new cams and intake would need some fine tuning. Just not sure which cams to go with anyone know a set up they have had that works well?
craggsy 91
268s work very well with a schrick

Just not sure which cams to go with anyone know a set up they have had that works well?[/quote']Is your car OBD1 or OBD2?OBD2 by and large gets away with it as it has a bigger lambda adjustment range +/- 25%, compared to OBD1's +/- 15%. But even then that's only for controlling part throttle. Beyond a certain load / throttle position / rpm, the lambda is ignored and it runs the standard base map. These are the areas that need tweaking. My old OBD1 motor with Schrick and cams, bigger TB used to pink it's b0llocks off at 3500rpm before it was mapped.

chief ka kar 0
After pricing this lot up, maybe it would be better to save a little more and maybe get a charger. Dont know ? Anyone had the pleasure of experiencing both set ups.
CALICO 130
craggsy had charger and shrick a charger lends itself to a nice set of cams as well
craggsy 91
Yep rotrex and a schrick on the VR. gives you a bit more torque lower down even with the charger
