probert993 0
what do i type in mate do i use a smaller tyre then etc sorry to sound dumb
Ben Seabrook 4
if you go on that site it will show you what all the different tyre sizes will look like on your 17's mate so go for something like a 195/40/17 have a look and see if you like the style
probert993 0
brill , must admit they look so much better they would transform my wheels, any evidence with stretched tyres that its dangerous etc or the tyre wears alot faster, cheers for the help
Ben Seabrook 4
nah a little bit is fine with some of the more extreme styles I wouldnt feel comfortable using them but then I like to drive my car ! plus you can have problems with the tyre not sealing to the rim and you end up with a constant slow puncture !Also depends on the width of the rim tbh as it obviously wont be so pronounced on a thinner rim as it will be on a 8" plus
probert993 0
so u reckon just a slight stretch like on the 195 instead of a 205 will be ok then? still looks good though :-)
editionmatt 1
195/40's on my 7.5s look fine and i cn also be a bit enthusiastic with the right foot and not have to worry, there may even be a pic on my build thread

probert993 0
brill will have to source some tyres! No rush tho still runnin my winter wheels while weather is this bad !
VeedubVR 0
I running 195s on an 8 and it handles great! But be aware that not all tyres strretch the same. The softer tyres such as toyo, dunlop and falken give much nice stretch. My mate ran what we called danger stretch on his wheels for ages with no problems and his give his lupo death everywhere (165/50 on a 8)Main garages won't touch stretch, probs cos they don't understand it. But as long as your sensible when driving it will be fine. Give the car stick just not in the corners as much. With stretch it stiffens up the side wall a little. If you look at F1 cars and some touring cars you might notice their tyres have slight stretch not not as much as we create.
Dave_ciw 507
I am not a fan in all honesty I had 17" BBS rc's with Parada Spec 2's and the grip was the best I have ever had on any vehicle. This new one I bought has 16" lenso's with stretched rubber and its all over the place when fast cornering not even close.
VeedubVR 0
Pradas are excellent for grip, so maybe it was the tyre brand that affected the handling rather than the stretch. What tyres are on the lensos? (Typed that word with a shiver haha) lensos are onlyt a skinny wheel anyway. Only stretch when its needed otherwise it will look wrong and crap! probert993 0
so wil 205 with a 195 tyre look ok ?
VeedubVR 0
How wide are your wheels? How do you want to to sit in the arch? If your tuking you don't needs as much. If your poking or fkush you'll need stretch.
HAMMER_VR6 0
I have 17 BBS 7.5" wide. When i bought the car it had 195/40/17 Yokohama S-drives fitted. The car was fairly low and when i drove the car enthusiastically the tyre rubbed the front arches.Swapped my front tyres for Falken 195/40/17 ZE912 and now my tyres never rub the arches.Really chuffed with them, they perform well and look great. They have noticably more strech despite being the same size. Also sounds strange but tyre black stays on them better and looks glossy for longer
craggsy 91
Ive ran 195/45 16s on my porsche 928 rims for years and had no problems at all. Feel so much better than 195/40 16s i have on some merc rims.....to twitchy round corners for my liking.
probert993 0
i think mine are 7.5 s if that helps
probert993 0
my wheels are et 42 and to be honest they sit to far in for my liking my old wheels were et 32 so plan is to space out 10mm and do the stretch tyres but only if it looks good and drives good still , thanks for the help lads merry xmas
VeedubVR 0
If they are 17s then you could go for 205/40s for slight stretch. But if your wanting to space out a bit I'd go for 195s. Are your arches rolled?
probert993 0
currently on 205 s thats what came on the wheel, dont think arches are rolled but i used to have 17s runnin 205 40 et 32 currently on 205 40 et 42 so want to space 10 mm and maybe use stretched tyre 195 40 ? ? ?
VeedubVR 0
Either should be fine. But if you space out any further you might need smaller tyres. 195s are practically the norm on 7.5s now haha.
probert993 0
only goin 10mm out not pushing my luck lol cheers for the help
