Your 2010 show highlights

Recommended Posts

So as the long winter nights roll in my thoughts have turned to fonder warmer memories of the shows this year :) they are undoubtedly the lifeblood of this and any forum and provide the opportunites to catch up with friends, look over other peoples cars, gain inspiration, make new friends and generally enjoy some great times with some top people who all share one common interest.

So before we start another year I was thinking it was time to share !! so come on everyone who has been to a show over the last year let us know what you liked and if you have a pic to demonstrate etc then bung that up too :) be it a funny moment an awesome car, a drag run, a convoy, a prize you collected etc etc lets hear them !

I will start - it's always hard to pick one or two moments as over the course of a year I have so many to choose from - Gavin's amazing singing and dancing at BugJam, Nige's two step at nearly every show, Nat almost burning the gazeebo down in Germany, the karting at Billing, Craig and his lack of releasing his handbrake, the Buckfast man at Inters, the dragstrip action, the convoy's from Trumpington, the movie's and awesome music setup at Billing, and the general laughter, jokes and good times at every show.

Buuuuttt my best moment of the year was this -

the realisation of my dream to finally get the wheels on ( 7am on the morning of travelling to Inters) after all the hassle and nearly 18 months waiting !! everything together interior done etc and then the most nervous journey of my life ! pulled over to the side 5 times to check the wheel nuts etc on the way! A very personal one yes but meant a lot to me :)

The one moment that sticks in my mind will be on the 4 musketeers trip to the ring was Tony filming Ben in Belgium then seeing that Audi R8 and screaming "GO GO GO!!" at me and I duly oblidged upto 170mph.

Also at Inters at the strip watching Tony sweat buckets whilst at sat in a aircon'd car watching a DVD shouting at him "Its getting cold in here......might have to put a jumper on " got some strange looks round us then

Well not sure where to start Loads of great memories , Pod, Nurburg , Inters , Billing , Action etc.

This has been my first proper show season to many highlights but the one for me is the Craggsy dragstrip handbrake incedent , being sat in the passenger seat was hilarious !! (still Proper quick even with the handbrake on though) .

And of course meeting some great new friends enjoying a beer in the sun and a laugh around a campfire or two , roll on 2011 peeps .

there is a video from inters just thought i would remind you all !!

Too many to list for me.. Not that i have been to any shows for the past 3 years.. Apparently germany was great this easter gone.. When group a ledt the camo site at a rate of knots whilst group b towing and conservatively driving headed on the scenic route, after a few hours of driving group b, joined on to a main carriage way for 1 junction only to be overtaken by a rather speedy group a.. The look on their faces said it all :)

Waking up in the snow after night racing twas also a memory that will not be forgotten in haste!

Ahh and nearly forgot the security at inters giving steve and me a rollocking for being drunk in charge of a chainsaw.. Apparently we where seconds from having the dogs set on us! And then there was the grinding a 5" hole in nats' mates boot for the show and shine..

My most memorable show moment was in Plymouth sainsburys following out 2 black golfs thinking they were Nick the greek and craggsy, only to find out I'd driven the wrong way following a MK4 and a Mk3 8v..... how much of a dick did I feel. Cant apologise enough to you guys and girls for wasting 20 -30 minutes :(

Drive down was immense and so was the drive back. That is a nice distance to travel without getting backache and being in a nicely quick convoy was fantastic. Aside from that stupid cow in the mondeo, Nick the greek nearly killing himself with loose wheels and craggsys holey blow pipe lol :D

My most memorable moment this year with the VR was meeting up with Dave before night racing and having about 40 runs in 4 hours... the next morning finding Dave still pissed lying in his boot... great days :)
