merlin2002 0
After much faffing abput replaceing sensors I found my problem to be the common obd2 abs ecu problem. Now rather than spend money on another old unit or silly privr new unit. I decided to open it up.And all I done was refreshed the solder on all the connection pins on the PCB put it back to geather re-sealed with some silicon sealent, pluged in and cleared all error codes went for a drive.....voila all abs sensors are reading speed!!Soo far I have covered about 60miles with know issues!!just thought I would let you guys know!!Rob

merlin2002 0
I didnt this time, but if someone has a broken faulty one laying around, I can try the same fix, with some photos/guide and return it to them after. With any luck its the same fault as the rest of them and not just luck on my behalf!! but all does look fine on VAG-COM

finny 0
How easy was it to remove the abs ecu from underneath the pump & housing bracket? It seems very tight round there? Or did you complete remove the pump unit etc away from the bulkhead.
merlin2002 0
easy abs ecu is right on the underside can be removed with pump and everything else in situ, you may have to manipulate a pipe or 2 slightly to get it out, but nothing major, 1/4 drive wrench with a small socket does the job. probert993 0
glad yours worked had prob after prob with my vr6 abs had the same done as you re soldered ecu , covered nearly 400 miles then welcome back abs light, all wheel speeds reding the same but still intermittent light when it feels like it, maybe solder cracked again or something , gave up now fed up with it all !!! Timah89 1
what problems have you had with the ABS, is it just the light that has come on, cause i get the light on sometimes but my main issue is that whilst driving along (usually at slower speeds) it feels like the ABS is kicking in for no reason (without even touching the brake pedal) and it then becomes very hard to stop the car - gets a little scary too to be honest!!! probert993 0
i did have that problem too but that was rectified by adjusting rear sensor , mine had moved to far away from ring causing one wheel to lock up when braking, this causing feeling of abs whilst driving and braking that feels like grinding concrete! As above adjusted rear sensor that cured that then i had abs ecu re soldered, braking is now fine but 400 or so mikes later after no light i get it every few days , then next time i drive car it goes out again, weird! Timah89 1
that definately sounds the same as what mine is foing. half thinking to just take out the whole ABS unit, getting annoyed with emssing around with sensors all the time. i'll have a look at the sensor distance though and see if it has moved at all.
