Turrican 0
Just had a cylinder pressure test done on my 2.8 vr, one of the cylinders was a bit lower than the others (110 psi) the others where 140-150psi. Does anybody know what the standard psi is, and anybody got an idea why 1 cylinder could could be going pear?Cheers
acf8181 0
i dont think its that critical what the exact pressure is, its if they are all the same that is critical. sounds like you have a prob, maybe head gasket.
andy 0
Using a home tester mine all registered between 185 and 195 psi. This was immediately after a head job so figs are back to their original values. Before head job they were down at 150 ish and one was at 70 and one didn't register, hence how I knew it needed attention! In my case the low reading was due to minor head corrosion causing a bad seal with the head gasket. A 4 thou skim and new gasket soon solved that. Also recut the valve seats and reground the valves. Generally I think an engine will run fine with 10 to 20% drop in compression on one cylinder, probably less noticeable on a 6 cylinder rather than a 4 cylinder in terms of smoothness. Poor valve seating will also cause low compression, but this is still a head off job to correct.

just2zang 0
cheers mate.. yeah c&r helped me out when i broke a 10mm bolt that was screwed into my mums 2.0 audi head. The coolent was leaking from the unit that comes off it (forgotten what this is called).. They rebored the hole, fitted a sleeve so i could put a bolt in. They were expensive though
