Rallycross VR6 engine tuning

Recommended Posts

H guys,

I own a VR6 rallycross car which i use here in ireland. The car is currently running coilovers, eibach anti roll bar kit, polybushed, bigger brakes, custom exhaust system, qauife lsd, helix clutch. I am now interested in getting as much power out of the car as possible but wish to keep it N/A. Can any please direct me in the right direction to achieve this? Or any recomendations.

Thanks, Darragh Morris

3.0 high compression build

maybe combine that with throttle bodies

and better suited cams

then get it all maped and you could be onto a winner

i remember a thread over on vortex where a small firm did exactly what you are trying to do, keep the vr n/a but tune it as far as possible

have you also considered direct port nos

Yeah the 12V VR6 just hits a flow brick wall at around 250 crank power, no matter what pistons and crank throw you use.

Best power normally aspirated would be the 24V, either 2.8 with R32 head or straight R32. Stick cams in it, remap the VVT and increase the rev limit and you should be knocking on the doors of 300 crank power. You will never close to that from a NA 12V :-)

If you want to stick to 12V (it is a stronger engine than 24V), CCH heads are nice though - http://scch-heads.com/viewhead2.php?id=30

Thank you to all that have replyed back on this matter. The info i have received is not what i was looking for butthats life. I am now considering a turbo conversion for it but in rallycross we race on on mixed tarmac and gravel track and i was wondering what kind traction does a turbo vr6 have?

Quaife/Peloquin/Wavetrack LSD is a must.
