it should show up as 'Run as Administrator' in the menu when you right click it. If not, you can goto properties -> compatability and tick run as administrator there. Try changing the compatability to Windows XP too

my crack files only work with 409 and that won't run on 64 bit win 7 ultimate but runs fine on vista ultimate 32 bit (only with run as administrator)

Which version of Windows have you got and is it 32 bit (x86) or 64 bit (x64)

If you right click on the vagcom shortcut, it should bring up this menu. Not sure if it works on 64 bit windows though, that could be your problem. To find out if your system is 32 or 64 bit, click start, right click on computer and click properties. It should tell you in the next window.

Just checked its 32 bit mine. And that is spot on /\ same as mine got it as administrator now, going to try this tomorrow morning on the car now hope it works! fingers crossed

Just in the car trying to get it to work, where you can test if its obd2 compatable i tried that and it says its not obd2 compatable, i can plug it in, select comm 3 and get

interface found,

port ok, type:

serial pass-Through,

opto/iso:NO

ross-tech design:NO

It just wont find any codes etc!

where are you getting thsat message...have you gone into the options and saved settings?

thats when i go into options to test the comm port, comm3 gives that as a pop up.

I now know why this will not work. My ecu is knackered! thats why my car isnt starting, absolutly gutted. Also tryed plugging in a friends diagnostics tool which wouldnt pick up the car, a snap on diagnostics which would not pick up the car and this vagcom i have got which would not pick up the car.

So its the car then! got another car to try it on....as far as i remember its passing the comm port and interface which matters.....your ecu must br fecked which is why it cant talk to the vagcom

Just been speaking to gazbarber for an hour installing my vagcom, cannot thank him enough! true brainiac with vagcom and i appriciate the effort he made to help me get it working

If your a Vista user - I'd recommend you to upgrade to Windows 7.

The lucky boy, lol, wish mine was a fuse, ive checked all of mine and they are all fine. Im going to scan my mates car soon with my vagcom make sure it was deffo down to my ecu, deffo is though lol
